The complete Users Proxy Guide - Updated Weekly.

Hello, this is just a marketing experiment on one of the new phenoms .. "Proxys".
So Im writing a kind of journal of what Im going to do from day one to last day on marketing a new proxy, so enjoy!
Btw, I will reveal some secrets in the hear so watch our for that!

Day 1
Ok Today I Registered a new domain, I had to pick something without the
word proxy in it, but it would still be relevant to a proxy, so I chose the domain

It sounds nice and rolls off the tongue, the next step it hosting, so lets GO!

Hosting
Well, ALOT of people wonder were I can get hosting, Cheap for proxies, I have a place .. NETFIRMS!
How does 750GB/Month Bandwith sound, thats very good In my opinion! So lets get started!
Now 110$ per year is not that much, but lets see if we can find a coupon, oh wow, how bout 100$ OFF?

*Enjoy* .. Well we have the hosting now, lets set up the proxy, first we need a script, theres many to choose from, everyone knows about the Two obvious once:
- CGI PROXY: HERE
- PHP Proxy: HERE
& For something a little bit more unique!
- Surragifier HERE

Now we got the Script, we got the Domain, now we need a snazzy design, thats Ad friendly, I just threw together a random design, but if your a neat person, try the -- Templates Section!

So, we got our site all up, now we need to mix in the two most important things Traffic & Revenue, this is were it gets a little more complex.

So, first we need to do Link Exchanges, obviously - This will give you exposure to other people which is of course a good thing, so go To the link exchange Section!
Get about 5-10 link exchanges with somewhat DEVELOPED proxy websites, remember the more exposure the better!

Now it's time for topsites, this is debateable, but this DOES help, after submitting to proxy topsites - I got blogged by a few so this is good, heres a list.

Thats just some, Don't submit to too many topsites, it will make your web site look very messy!
Now we got somewhat the BASE of traffic now we need to trigger it, this way can be done in many places, I find forums a very good place to advertise, and at the same time NOT SPAM!
If you have strong morals skip the next section
I find Warez Forums a very good place to advertise, as they need privacy alot, this is a perfect target, if you have trouble finding warez forums, just GOOGLE IT!

Now, try NOT TO SPAM! Find the right section and do it in a none spam manner, also of course Myspace is also a good way, you can either buy an account or just buy a few bulletins, they don't really cost alot, if you can get 1-5 bulletins to 10K+ People thats enough, your traffic can only grow from there.

Remember Myspace is not the only place Teens hang out, being a teen I would know this . Try some other social websites like

Etc, also Use common sence!
Try Teen forums too!

Now we have some adult and some teen traffic! Lets convert this into Revenue!
Theres some good programs you can use
- http://www.google.com/adsense Cannot put ad's on Proxified pages
- http://www.adversal.com Save for when you get more traffic

Now people always talk about blending ad's, but I don't think thats a good Idea for a proxy, I tried to make my ad's stand out! Choose an outragous color, and test ad placements and colors!

Search Engines
Now theres millions of proxy sites, so don't expect too much traffic from SE's. But if you just wana get indexed for any reason, I suggest buying a 1 week link on.

If your a spender theres some very good ways to get traffic!

You can get tons of traffic by paying on those sites, but this guide mainly focuses on free ways.

This has been four days, with all these techniques, Ive averages about 200-300 Visitors/day, and about 1$ a day now, remember its only Been FOUR DAYS!

Pretty good guide, but I disagree that you can't get much SE traffic, I get a bunch of referrals from Googles etc, and my proxy is 10 days old. Most proxies in the first few pages of Google are blocked by schools, so having a ranking lower down can be beneficial (a lot of people straight away go to lower results).

Also, I say join as many topsites as possible. Sure, your proxy may look a little fugly, but when have proxies been known for their look?

Consider writing about advertising through adbrite? I've spent $40 for a month of advertising across 10 sites and so far it's got me some nice traffic.

hehe, yeah, thats what I read to help with my proxy.
And it did work very well, bought a lot of low cost clicks across many sites.

 

do you need to pay anything to get on the list on the english version of goodwaiter? does the chinese vistors converts?
I heard that they use proxies for heavy hotlinking.

 

I have been reading with interest these proxy related threads over the last few weeks and I am trying a few things myself. It will be interesting to see how things turn out over the next month or so.

 

And on Day 5 the hosting account was suspended......

great guide, but you've got to be joking on the hosting side, a shared plan with Netfirms?!?! It might come with 750gb transfer but you won't even get to 75gb before they suspend your account for taking up too much resources. If you're serious about building a high traffic proxy start with a VPS, or if you can afford it, get yourself a cheap box.

Shared hosting + Proxies = recipe for disaster.

Is it against DP's terms of service to start a thread in the buy sell trade section to start a pool to see when netfirms cancels the account?

 

You can always just buy your own server.

 

VPS is the best option.
www.servint.com is a great proxy host.

I'll bet 3 days...with the proxy for sale in the buy/sell section for $50 on the 4 the 4th day, uncontactable but with screenshots of what it use to look like

 

I'll like to know witch of those scripts are you using.

I've been searching for a scrip that works fine with https and java.... haven't found any

No decent shared host would allow proxy hosting.
