Err, mistake with the Sears Tower I think, it's visually taller, but the figures are smaller

They are not declaring the height as they want it to be the tallest tower atleast for some years :)

i dont see whats the point of building anything there again other than a memorial. would anyone in their clear mind want to work or live in a building that was already targeted twice already?

depends, you know terrorists dont really like these tall buildings so once we build them they will just break them again :( sad but true, anyway hope sometime soon the buildings will be huge, great for photos :) and saving space.

not making light (not a joke) by any means but,

hopefully lessons from the WTC can be applied...like if you have 17 guys wanting to learn how to fly a plane...not land mind you just control the plane in the sky...someone will take the tips seriously this time...(granted different attacks will be used in the future obviously)

AND I'm sure structurally, the new super scrapers being built will adhere to fireproofing methods above and beyond what was found to have been done on both WTC towers. Saw an interesting thing on TLC/Disc that showed how grossly under fire-proofed and or not maintained the buildings were in that regard, that led to the massive failures and ultimate demise of them.
