There is a problem in blog links though. The latest articles get to the top page, so advertisers may think they bought PR4 link or whatever. But as the blog grows, older articles get pushed and eventually placed in old archives. At this point, many are blind so they don't realize that they bought PR0 link. Although some blogs have categories with PR, which all blogs should have. If they find out this weakness, dirs would be more popular again. Or article directories will become popular. Who knows??
read it. so they screen with human eyes before approcal? As long as they dont list publishers site URL and stuff, I don't see how G would catch?
Unless G has access to V7's database of bloggers theres nothing they can do. They can't penalize every single blog entry on the net with a link it. Theres nothing MC can do about this. Hes just hating.
Not the bloggers. The v7 Network itself. If Google somehow tries to accuse v7 of violating their quality guidelines, could they penalize v7's network of sites? ie. v7n.com, blog.v7n.com, directory.v7n.com, etc.
It is important that V7's keep the qulity standards. Beside that I do not see why running the program should affect their network. It is not link spamming!
Thats true NRL. Maybe John shouldnt have put the part in about being undetectable, I guess since matt is with the spam department hes having a hissy fit.
I understand it's not link spamming. I'm posing the what if? Google has shown it does not favor paid links and now that it sees a program trying to make paid, relevant links, undetectable may make them on ease. I think the idea is genius, but Google may think otherwise and Matt Cutt's has already attacked the idea.
I don't see why would this be spamming, lot of other companies do sell text links(like text links ads, pay per post etc.) and they are not banned from Google for this. How can G detect text links ads when they generate static html links like owner added them himself? Those links are not anywhere near spam and there is no need even to try to restrict them in G. I think Matt is only reacting because pointing out those links are undetectable and maybe "Google killer" title. My 2 cents.
Looks like fatt butts has his panties in a bunch. I agree with you Marco, in that, the terms 'gaygle killer' and especially 'undetectable' struck a nerve and has more truth to the matter. There is noway they can detect these links, and although my opinion on it, with FB crying over there, is just icing on the cake.
I have found all this quite interesting and posted my opinion here: http://balkanboy.biz/2007/01/25/contextual-links-at-v7n-facts-and-analysis/
I just wrote about it also at http://blog.irkawebpromotions.com/2007/01/25/v7n-contextual-link-ads-criticized-by-matt-cutts/ I think Matt is just a bit touchy when he heard that V7n employs ' undectable techniques to create relevant links ', he probably felt all the heavy weight of google on his shoulder and played big papa to show whose the daddy here, But well... If there wasn't that undectable thing i wouldn't see a problem with that. Problem is that, if someone starts to do the same service but that person is a kind of spammer like Amit Patel, well google serps and other engine serps would gone wild. And of course there will be that kind of spammers running that kind of service..... if it works
