Apparently a large percentage of 'techie' users block ads. And most users here are techies.

BUT, many users here are also Adsense publishers, so I imagine they wouldn't want to block the ads...

I'd like to see some numbers though!

I am a tech but I do not block ads of any kind. Never even really gave the idea much though.

Ads do not bother me and I would imagine not seeing the ads on some sites can take away from the appearance as sometimes these things are integrated into the design.

I do not block AdSense ads. But, I sometimes wish I did so that I could actually tell the difference between content and ad blocks made to look like content.

I ran into a site yesterday, owned by a Russian group which picks up just expired domain names that still have backlinks, especially in rarely edited DMOZ sections. The front page was all ads. The only non-ad (or was it) link opened a page with all ads. Backing up regenerated the fornt page, with all new ads!

A proper ad blocker would have generated a blank page.

Anyone else wanna share their stance? 6 poll results is hardly enough to produce reliable stats of any sort

    Never block them.
If the ads bother me too much, I just don't visit that site anymore :p

oops, I didn't mean to inspire people to block ads because of this thread!

I guess this is a classic example of the theory that you can't accurately measure something without changing it in some way

I don't block them, I want to see a site exactly as most users see it.

These results so far are more positive than I'd anticipated. I've just created a free, adsense-supported link checking tool for link buyers, and I was kind of worried that half of my users wouldn't see the ads anyways...

No, because I like to see sites how they're supposed to be like. Plus, I sometimes pick up a few tips here and there on ad placement. :)

No, I am always looking at adsense ads...

They are in my opinion the "most friendly"... As opposed to flashy, popups, and blinking ads...

I don't block ads, I think it's disrespectful to the websites you're surfing. They provide a free service, you view their ads. I think that's a fair trade.
