Weird paypal problem...help?

I rarely use my paypal debit card for anything non-online related.

Recently, I was driving and needed gas really bad....didn't have any cash so I used my paypal debit card at the pump.

I only put 8 dollars in because I really didn't know how much was in my account..but in my account it didn't deduct 8 dollars, only took 1 dollar away and the transaction is still pending....

Kinda worried I am going to get in some trouble from this. Anyone know what I should do? Is this stealing?

If it were stealing, it wouldn't you to be blamed for. And if it's only about a buck then you've got even less reasons to be worried about. You handed the debit card for the amount to be debited. If they got a problem with deducting the right amount, I would not qualify you as a thief for that. Paypal is always there to be contacted via online form for any clarifications.

Lucky you americans to be given PP debit cards, eh :)

Definitely not stealing because you offered payment in good faith. I guess that 50% of the people making a transaction don't pay full attention and it's really uo to the cashier to ensure you are charged properly. You are indeed lucky to get a PP debit card. Even luckier you can get gas for $8 - here in the UK $8 (£4 GBP) would not even get you 1 gallon of gas!

Could be that the $1 was only an authorization to verify the card is good. Probably after the gas store owner runs his credit card charges through his merchant account, the $8 will show up. Then a few days later you will get a credit back of $1.

Happens to me quite often at C-stores.

At gas pump they always do this thing..
Like Verifying the card Before Actually Charging it..
    So lets take a Example..

$3 shooppint they will verify it for $50 (Will not take out)
Next after few days $3 will be deducted...
    So it is normal..
But in ur case it is Paypal. So i am afraid.. But even then u are not in problem..
Because u r not the one to blame...LoL..
