I was wondering, how did everyone get into web development? Personally, a friend was into it, and I started making some of my own sites. Its not my job, but it is a fun hobby.
I started by creating a hobby website when i was like 16 or so. It looked like crap, i had no clue how to do web design, didnt know html or anything. I created the site with like yahoo sitebuilder. 2 years later someone told me that instead of doing my website by hand there are scripts out there that will do all the work and i dont have to manually create each page myself. I was very interested in web development and started reading online tutorials, learned everything from there and now its my full time job.
I have a free geocities web 'site'. I learned HTML, then ASP, then JavaScript, etc, and then finally: online marketing
I first took a Web Design course in Grade 10 in high school because it seemed like a cool option (had to take 3 credits in an optional course). I then started designing websites again four years later because I went busto playing online poker and I wanted to find a new hobby that could provide income.
Me too. I didnt like the class one bit but i got a good grade. From then on I have made some simple websites for people i know, and about a year ago i realized the profit potential in myspace sites. I bought a turnkey site, of which i learned all about css, a lil php, and html from just looking at the code. Now its become a hobby to build websites. Even though some of them never make money, i enjoy making them.
