I'd like to get some appraisals from the members of this forum on the name Social.com This is the 6 letter dictionary word. Some history on the name: I registered the name in 1995. In that year, I was using the name for a web site I called the Social Cafe. The Social Cafe was Cool Site of the Day, http://www.coolsiteoftheday.com/cgi-bin/stillcool.pl on Jun 22, 1995 In October of 2006 the name was out of my possession for a couple weeks until my Registrar at the time, Namesecure, was able to recover it. It is now at Moniker and I intend to put it up for auction in early 2007. Your kind opinoins are appreciated! Details and contact info available at http://www.social.com - BlueSkies
If this is a legit request... Sell it and sell it now. At no point in the future is a website with a name like "Social.com" going to have better traction than it would today.
I'd be interested to find out how much you sell it for once it's all gone through. If you could let us know...
Thanks for your kind replies! I'm wondering if people can share any experiences they've had with using a video to promote their domain names? I made my first attempt at doing so: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-crjGMTerc Not professional, but probably not too bad? I dug up an old version of Flash 5 that I had in the attic to put it together. I used a couple stock videos from http://www.istockphoto.com/index.php - iStockphoto. They cost just 5 credits apiece ($12). I had a friend do the voice overs which I recorded with my MP3 player/recorder. - BlueSkies
Sedo is definetely the way to go. They would certainly give you a homepage feature on such nice a name. Then post proxy posts on Dnforum and sitepoint at minimum. As others have mentioned I would also advise of a high xx.xxx$ reserve if you auction it of. Good luck in your sale of one great domain
For such a sale, i thing its best to hire a professional aution house as the money is big and they can realize the mamimum potential of the name Easily a 6 figure
at least low 6. You should get a domain broker. You will find more information @ dnforum. And don't go around telling everyone you own the name
