I am contemplating... for past 2 years...whether to go back to Contacts or get lasik? I am starting hate Glasses - been wearing them since I was 14, then got hooked to contacts for almsot 8 years and then went back to glasses for last two but I am hating them. Contacts - $300/year Lasik - $4K (One time) Any one with good experience of Lasik - got 20/20 or better vision?
I've seen how lasik is done, and I couldn't stand having it done on me. If you can go through it ok, then I'd suggest getting it done. Personally I'm glad I don't need glasses, and don't think I have small enough fingers to work out how to get contact lenses in and out every day >_>
I considered having lasik because my contacts would dry out after about five hours of use. I decided against having the procedure done because, like all technology, it will only get better over time... so I'm going to wait. Instead, I switched to daily disposable lenses. Now, I can wear them for 20 hours w/ no irritation or dryness. The daily lenses do cost more but IMO they're well worth it. These are the ones I use: http://www.acuvue.com/1day_acuvue.htm My wife just started using them last week and she loves them as well.
That's the same reason i didn't get it too..also, since it is so new, long time side effect may not appear yet. i rather wait, it is my eye and if i loss it, i can never get it back
Most people I know that have had it done are happy with the results. But they have to wear reading glasses.
I wouldn't mind wearing reading glasses along as i can see far away. My brother Bud has over 20-20 vision and i hate him for that.
Most of the risks associated w/ Lasik are irreversible. Many people still need to wear glasses for night driving. Also, if you have dry eyes, Lasik surgery can make them worse.
Lasik is a good deal, however keep this in mind. If you are having kids, then wait until you finish having them. Aparently a woman's eyes grow wacky after straining with having babies. Plus your eyes are always growing. Hey Rob.... I'm not here to cause no trouble, I'm just here to do the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Lasik is new??? I know people who did it with the old technology - scraping the cornea - for now they are doing fine (almost 4 years). Matter of fact this friend of mine can see better then 2020 and his vision is as good as night vision at night - dude can see road signs which are almost miles away (you know what I mean). I am not scared about the technology or anything - freaking $4K+ is bit too much I think. During a consultation visit one of the doctors mentioned I might have chance of getting better then 2020 since my eyesight is not so bad (I don't wear cylinders). Dry eyes - I think I have them, my contacts used to dry up on me every 5-6 hours too.
I had LASIK last June and its awesome. I never knew what it was like to wake up able to see! I have 20/20 vision in both eyes now and before my eyes were horrible. I couldn't see a foot in front of me before. I definitely recommend it. It cost me 2500 for both eyes.
But will you get better over time ? I think that after two more adsense payments I can afford lasik, I am going.
Lasik is perfectly fine , know a lot of people who have got it done sucessfully. lol ...though looks scary to me
