Im going to stop adsense anyway. Only made like 20$ this month from it which is not worth it imho. Things I am doing tonight though: Adding Site Map Fixing some directory issues and deep linking Adding more <h1> Games Servers </h1> to my home page Adding meta tags Adding some more new articles to home page Adding alt text to all images on the site that says "Game Servers" (is this bad keyword stuffing?
Unfortunately, 12 months is still not an established site in google's eyes, especially in competitive fields. And if your competitors have far more trusted links to their site then you do, your domain age and the age of the links are still two factors that count against you. Google has age-filters for both domains and links to domains. New links count less then old links. New domains count less then old domains. For both I think 12 months is about as long as it takes for them to be taken reasonably seriously. But your links can't be 12 months old yet, because the site is only just that old. Then again - if your link-building so far has been at the right places - you might see some improvements soon.
Well Ive come to the conclusion that adding to directories for google is pointless. Is this right? Apparantly google doesnt even look at these links? Its like 200+directories none of them have even shown up on my links:www.invision-gaming.co.uk I just had 3 links added to PR5+ and PR6 sites a few days ago. These are VERY appropriate to my site, I hope these get listed.
I'd personally try ranking for less competitive 'long tail' terms first: searches related to 'game servers', but more detailed. This is not my field at all, so I have no idea what that would be (and after all you are hiring someone else, apparently). Do not put the same H1 tag on every page. Have only one H1 tag on each page. Adding the same description on all images is a problem: your instinct is correct, it would look spammy. Vary it around a bit - targeting that 'long tail'.
Yes, I would agree that most directories (as advertised here on DP) are useless. Only topical, focused directories that actually show up in google for related searches are going to do you any good.
I agree with what KH7 says here, but aside H1 tags, you can try out bolding, anchor text, and footer linking.
I don't know about that KH7, any link is good, no links hurt you. Otherwise people would be getting there competition out of the way fairly easily. But I do agree that the more relevant the page which links are on to yours is better, you could try out services such as: http://www.theseokit.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=4 If you want strong links that are totally relative. How do you think I became #1 in over 50 terms for other sites I have. Its not because of the Title tag.....
Adding a site map is a great thing to do, don't use as suggested the same h1 tags on every page but putting it on the page at least once will help you out.
Hey Kalyse, these are links which go into a custom system I developed which is how I get sites from a pr 0 - a pr 3 - 4 in just 3 - 4 short weeks. You are already a pr 3 - 4 so it wont help in regards to upping your page rank. But it will help get you listed more if you fix up the other things I have suggested thus far. There are many more things which need to be corrected to be properly considered optimized. Your compo who is beating you does do several of these other things.
Well its funny. If you go onto 4u-servers.co.uk there site is awful for SEO but they have so many backlinks. Atleast I dont think its very well optimized. Maybe I am wrong.
