Basically, on unmanaged vps you'll have to do everything configuration etc yourself so if you break it you'll have to fix it yourself and if you ask company t hey will charge you extra but on managed server they will do whatever you ask them :)

managed mean someone outthere will work upon your request. Else for unmanage, it means everything you have to do yourself (saad meantioned that). It is best to go for managed hosting as you are sure that there is someone with expertise to attend to your problem.

If your not familiar with server administration, you'll need managed services.

I could not agree more. If you could manage a server then go unmanaged dedicated.

I have a VPS and there is no way I would go unmanaged. I can't install mods or the many other things that need to be tweaked.

probably your best bet for VPSs are www.servint.com and www.powervps.com they were one of the 1st to do the VPS thing.

There are quite a fe new ones popping up so I would suggest looking on the www.webhostingtalk.com forum under VPS offers ... you will find tons.

Price wise .... you are looking at about U$40 for a 256MB VPS (memory) up to about U$140 for a 1GB (memory) VPS ....

If you need more details let me know I can walk you through that ...
