i had The Final Vista RTM version installed on my PC for 2 days and to my experience it wasnt worth $$$ Inspite of good GUI interface Vista lacks in software compactibilty which is very necessary. It has too many security pop-ups like when u copy a file from dir to another it ask if u want to do it 2-3times after copyin it calculates the disk space which takes time again. IE7 crashes when to many tabs or heavy flash site are opened whereas when u open same IE7 in XP it runs fine. Moreover you need a very high Comp spec to run vista smoothly or else in 256RAM and 2.4GHZ processor it will lag like hell. Overall rating: GUI: 100% User friendly: 60% Software friendly: 40% Total i wouldn't suggest any1 to go for it
Kidding aside, I think out of the gate they are not giving it to you straight. Everyone seems to think that the "minimum requirements" are a joke... and we all thought Norton was THE resource hog!!!! this article seemed to hit the nail on the head to that end: How Much Oomph Does Vista Really Need?
Looks quite nice. wouldn't install it yet because most prgrams are made for windows xp- Wouldn't most programs be incompatible. Or is this just me...
When I installed Vista, I used the old XP drivers but it updated some drivers from the Microsoft website too. So, the XP drivers also work with Vista and the programs I used on XP also work on Vista. I'm using the 32-bit Ultimate Edition release but I don't know how it works the 64-bit edition. Anybody used the 64-bit edition and want to share some oppinions?
good point on the drivers, I never even thought about that! nice that you didn't run into many major hassles in that respect!
I use it,The graphics r kool and good interface but use huge amount of ram, over just for normal use to pc i would say vista is good but if u use heavy application like photoshop and so onn, then dont try for it.....
Vista is prettier, slower, more compatible, more incompatible, fully featured, unnecessary featured... I am going back to XP...
not at all. vista has lots of bugs and lots of my great new hardware and programs don't work with it. i regret buying it
