StumbleUpon Will Be Bought by Google

Think about it....the site is growing so quickly. Thousands are picking up on it daily, and we all use it for our own benefit. With this toolbar installed on hundreds of thousands of systems, Google may look into acquiring it for data collection. This would greatly benefit their company.

    The next YouTube? Perhaps.

I agree ... they are worth much more than Digg IMO. Anyone who has had a page go popular in SU will know just how many visitors it sends day after day after day.

They also have a handy advertising setup that costs only $0.05 per visit. :)

It really brings tons of traffic, it should be worth something. I think it's more powerful than Digg ;)

Google has no use for it, it probably doesn't generate nearly the revenue that YouTube does. Google won't buy something that doesn't generate enough revenue.

fsmedia has hit it on the head, also anyone who gets traffic from SU like myself will know it never converts very well into revenue.

Only reason google would buy it is if it wants to make its rankings have some user interaction (e.g rating each site on the search or something) apart from that google doesn't have much use for it and I'm sure whoever runs SU makes enough money to keep them happy anyway

SU traffic is useless and known as non-converting one...no money no subscriptions..

Unless your site is like "The pwnage"

Well, my site sucks and the traffic from SU has worked out well. It's not the traffic I get while the users are "stumbling," but the return visits that make it worthwhile. It's like free advertising.

Last I heard YouTube was losing $800,000 a month? Although, I agree - I don't think Google will buy SU.

SU is not much useful for them. Buying delicious (or developng it from scatch) and integrating SU functionality into Google Toobar integrated with bought-delicious would be a better move for them imo.

Ahh... I agree with caspertl, not much useful for them. Toolbar compared by google toolbar (volume of publicity) is worthless.

They bought YouTube because of video advertising - large market, there is no possible money for them. I think soo.

Google focus on delivering relevant results, not some random site people have stumbled on.

Yahoo have already bought del.icio.us ages ago - so I doubt they would hand it over to google.

There are many acquisition plans no doubt - but Google already have plans in place to better monetize YouTube - and building more datacenters is all part of their grand plan - so stumbledupon could be part of it at some point, although unlikely at this time.

A more likely buyer would be Yahoo as they seem to enjoy building up their social networking portfolio at the minute.
