Technically yes, and I am pretty sure if elected president she'd also be first lady (who would be more firsterish?) but she term limited out on that so I am not sure if she can run for co-president again.

She supported the war that 70% of the public now consider "a big mistake".
(The most recent one, that no one knows when will end).
20 more US soldiers died yesterday for not very clear reason.

Again, Cody, I disagree. Having lived in IA I can absolutely verify for you that women actually do reside (and vote) there.

She supported the war during a time that it would have been political suicide to oppose the war. Back then 70% of the public supported the war because they were duped into believing it was tied to 911 and the "War of Terror" (I'm using Borat's slight of words here).

Even now with low, and dropping, support for the war it is still politically tricky how a politician can make statements against the war. They gotta remain on the "support out troops" train, no matter what. Any criticism has to be carefully spoken with the right chosen words.

We are talking about Iraq, not Afghanistan. They are 2 separate beasts entirely. Well not entirely. Its still largely about maintaining control of the region, and its oil, and keeping the Russians and China out while attempting to keep a lid on the rise of fundamentalism and nationalism in the region. And a means to place puppet democracies in the region. Puppet democracies allow the preferred government to get elected. A real democracy would run the risk that a not so US friendly government gets elected. And we can't have that.

But I digress. Go Hillary!!! I'd hit it (vote) if I was an American

I am not so sure that standing for something is political suicide - I think the opposite may obtain.

My principle objection to Hillary is that she, with her husband, have squandered such intellectual capacity, such native gifts, in the single-minded reach for power. I don't see that she truly stands for anything, and I won't vote for her.

What I am looking for can not likely be found. I am looking for someone who stands for something, however unpopular, without the utter obduracy of the last 8 years; someone who thinks deeply before acting, like Clinton, but who stands for something, like the current president. I think both ends of the continuum - Bush, in his arrogance and obstinacy before his own people and the community of nations, in his wanton waste of power, and Clinton, who stands for nothing, who considers so many sides to the equation as to be hamstrung from acting - are the way to ruin. It's a lot to ask - but then, so is the life of a mother's service son or daughter; as well, the lives of other peoples who we harm by our foreign policy.

No one that I can see fits the bill.

Defending your ass is not a very good reason?

Back on topic though, I asked my wife her opinion of Hillary and she said, like her or hate her, she will not be president. When I asked her why, she said it has nothing to do with her being Hillary, it has everything to do with her being a women.

Another proof why America is not ready for a lady as President...
She can be as good as it can get, she's a woman, so she won't make it.

Exactly! Such a politician that ALWAYS acted on your fairytale principles would never ever be able to reach a point in their political career to ever consider running for the big job.

The reality is we choose the one candidate (of those currently available) that we feel makes the best fit with enough, not all, of our own opinions on how government should run.

Personally, I would actually vote for her ONLY because she is a woman. Even if she was a republican (I'm a staunch Liberal). I would vote for her simply because of the long term implications (liberal implications) it would have on America by having a woman as president. If she was black too, I would try to find a way to vote twice (maybe move to Florida where that can happen).

    Call me Crazy.

    Ok. You're crazy.

If you will kindly restrain your knee from its jerk reaction for a moment, you will see that I said I believe either pole of the continuum that I laid out is equally unacceptable. In the times we live in - the political opportunist with zero belief, the believer with zero sense but unfettered confidence in the surety of his or her mission - are equally dangerous. I place Mrs. Clinton in the former.

I don't much see the use of being a "staunch" anything on the liberal-conservative spectrum. I don't care whether it's a "staunch Liberal [sic]" or a "staunch conservative." In my opinion, wearing this on one's sleeve screams a religious viewpoint, a facile view of the world, inflexible in adapting to new knowledge.

By the way - if you are a "staunch Liberal," you are pro-business, through and through. Look it up, or ask Will (Spencer), himself a Liberal.:D

Next up, Laura Bush for president.

My prediction is that self victimization will abound and anyone who doesn't support Hillary will be accused of being sexist. If she then loses, America will add a new word to it's current label courtesy of the left; "sexist morons."

Hillary will not lose, trust me on this one mate. :D

As for Laura next up who knows, father pappy Bush failed to capture Iraq, son DUBYA captured Iraq and ruined it, maybe Laura will make it and try and repair the horrible damage done by her husband after Hillary has contributed to the disaster. :D

Point taken. I use the word "staunch" in reaction to the rise of conservatism in recent years. And in comparison to many, it is very staunch. But, I am very flexible... sometimes.

Regardless, I do think that if Hillary won the election it would be a very good thing. Even if she turned out to be an ineffectual leader. Just having a woman in office would be a monumental feat and would invoke significant change for the better within the nation.

It matters not outside the US. Many other "less developed" nations have long been "enlightened" on such matters.

    P.S.
I've been reading some Noam Chomsky Lately so I am now even more critical of the US government, particularly foreign policy, than I was before.

But will the media suppress the truth like they did with the swiftboaties? The media went to great lengths for jawn carry to cover up his treasonous past.

I see Dick Morris on Fox quite a bit. He's got some juicy stuff on the Clintons, having worked with them for so many years :)
