How Much is the right price?

    Hi all,

    Another question:

When it comes to website design I have found out that there is such a big gap between how much people / companies charge per hour.

I know people who only charge $35 per hour but also know people that charge up to $200 per hour. How much do you think is the right price for this and why do you think there is such a big difference between those two prices?

Is it because the firm that charges $200 per hour is a lot more experienced, have had a lot more clients (I think) - so they charge more?

Are fixed quotes or estimates the way to go?

    Thanks everyone.

It depends how do you work for. If your client can afford it then charge him 200$ per hour. If you think that your time and knowledge is worth 200$ per hour then go and charge that much. I think it is up to you as a designer/developer to decide how much do you charge...

Yes, it does depend on your client's budget.. also... if you start charging less and are recieving more clients than you can handle, just keep raising the price to get more high paying clients. In the end its better to charge more with fewer clients (willing to pay that much)

    it is very good question
some body is charging $35 and other one $200 it is a very big gap
    here is my opinon
if u work as a freelancer then u hve not make any setup u just need a computer and ur manpoer only then u can say the $35 is very good but if u have setup and u hve to charge ur fixed cost also

so as sson as u will move to freelancer >firm with 2 employee>firm with 10 employee >firm with 100 employee >firm with 200 employee

then the cost will increase bcose they have to chage there fixed expances and also there profit.....

i think here is the big gap in difference....
