You may be right - quality control is a big problem in some parts of the directory. Travel sites come to mind instantly. However, yours just doesn't cut it as a definitive generic directory in terms of depth of content. For those DMOZ depth of content is the benchmark in truth and even though it remains the biggest in the world with over 70,000 contributors it is still lacking in many areas. That is how difficult it is to do a really useful generic directory. So the best way to do useful (and listable) directories is to specialise in a niche and grow it outwards in concentric circles.
If you post the URL I will happily have a quick look when I have the time. But I am a retired editall so have no power to do anything more than give an independent personal opinion on its listability. If you think that is worth a donation then be my guest. But be warned - webmasters who think the sun shines out of their sites don't usually like my reviews!
