If you compare http://forums.digitalpoint.com.cob-web.org:8888/search.php?do=getdaily and http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?do=getdaily then you'll figure out that pages are generated in real time, and not stored on their servers.. Don't you think that trying your own website address with them is a mistake, you possibly lead their bots to your website by doing that..
That's a good point. But it may not matter. There's a lot of stuff like this going on these days. __________________
I wonder if what that site is doing is actually illegal? I've found that site sometime ago, and it has links to my own site. At that time I didn't think it mattered, but I could be wrong.
What I see is cob-web playing with searche engine, determining website ratings to drop as a result of duplicate content which qualifies for penalties.. Anything else?
I do know that Googe removed such sites from their index after the webmasters complained so I am thinking they do see it as illegal or at least wrong.
I believe these indexes should be removed and the site banned. Now that would be a real sign that Google has taken action against cob-web. As long as we see mirrored sites getting indexed, while other good projects banned for minor infringements, this speaks about Google's ignorance.
any ideas what i should do about this dup content....as all my pages are showing up in googles index with the cob-web.org. all my pages today dropped 40 positions for all keywords and phrases - old authority niche site. really stuck this time..
This is wrong. Even if they were just jacking content for adsense, but especially imitating .gov site, wouldn't that be a federal crime or something?
do you think google would help? sent them an email through there contact us form. showed them the stolen content acting as a subdomain on there site and my exacty url. just wait i guess.
I'm not going to lose sleep over this.....I believe the spiders are smart enough to know the difference. If it is true...then I'll just wake up tommorow and create a similar site and do it to all my competitors.
I think you can use 128.111.52.62 to block them. Compair http://www.vgchat.com.cob-web.org:8888/cgi-local/hijack.cgi and http://www.vgchat.com/cgi-local/hijack.cgi I get the same info on both URLs, except the IP address.
Did you mean: googlewashed Because a hijack is something completely different... It's a caching proxy server setup, Google is not caching the url's, so there should not be any problem with duplicate content. http://www.cob-web.org/
Someone hijacked my domain, Vylt.com previously. It was going to some kind of mongolian pornography website. It was rather gross. I called GoDaddy and raised seven kinds of hell when I found out. Luckily, they got it straigtened out.
Hope you are right, but there are some pages in there that seems to cached with title, description and all. To me it LOOKS like some sort of subdomain spam where they have all sites gone through their proxy listed as subdomains. Hope that Google is smarter than that and all the other SE's too.
This is a University doing this!! http://www.cs.cornell.edu/people/egs/beehive/cobweb/instructions.php It even gives http://www.google.com.cob-web.org:8888 as an example.
