how many products do you have? I'm VERY surprised you're not getting traffic from froogle. I run my mom's antique website and put her feed from froogle and even she gets visitors from it. Antiques aren't exactly a hot online item either. I'd suggest just getting as many backlinks with relevant anchor text as possible from as many sources as you can find.
Your site is well designed, and all relevant info seems to be on it. I don't understand why you aren't making sales! What is your average revenue per month?
You have testimonials on your website! Don't you have a way to capture their email addresses when they place an order? A customer email list is GOLDEN! Use it, don't abuse it and it will be good to you.
Also, although not necessary but it looks good, you may want to get a better header banner. Instead on "INTERNETSHOP", why not "INDYMART"?
When was the last time you did a PR? I do one about every 3-4 months, usually when I add a new feature to my site or when I run a big promotion.
Are you updating your froogle & yahoo feeds? Froogle (Googlebase) only keeps your listings for 30 days.
Only do a press release if you have something new & interesting going on at your site. Hire a writer to do it for you if necessary. I'm sure there are plenty here at DP that can do a bang-up job! My best advice is to read, read, read! Look over the posts here at DP. Check out webmasterworld forum. Google "marketing", "advertising", "e-commerce" and likewise. Visit http://www.allbusiness.com/ and other similar sites. You may also want to list your products on eBay. I used to do that, but their fees just weren't worth it anymore for me, but maybe it will work for you. Dabble in offline advertising as well. Also, why would I shop at your store as compared to another store? Right down the reasons and list them on your site PROMINENTLY! There are hundreds of thousands of websites to compete with, in addition to the 'big box' stores like Wally Mart. What makes you shop at one place as compared to others? Shipping, customer service, prices? Make your store a little different than the rest. It's all about branding your site. I can get traffic all day, but if my site doesn't appeal to Jane Dow, she will click off and shop at Sephora. Also, is your site secure? Some customers will only shop at stores with secure shopping carts.
You may want to get a toll-free phone number. Just make sure it is visible on every page of your site. In order to call you, I have to look up your number on your "contact us' page. It's not a toll-free number, so if I have a simple question, I might not call you. I don't want to wait for an email reply, so I'll go find the product I'm am looking for on another website. You just lost a sale. Plenty of cheap toll-free services out there, many for less than $10 a month. Also, try adding a live chat on your site. I just added one today (and it was free!) It is here: http://www.boldchat.com/v4/info/features.jsp I've had my store online for less than 2 years and I average anywhere from 1-5 sales a day. Just keep reading, adding backlinks and refining your site. It's a never ending process, trust me!
what you need is more backlinks, links on sites similar to yours, SE traffic and better SE rankings, you need to gain more more more backlinks, more PR and more traffic to gain all this. Work on backlinks is my advice.
This is exactly what I was going to recommend trying. Here is what I would do: 1) Create a report about the importance of home security. Make sure you hit 'em were it hurts (protect the family, reduce high insurance costs, etc.) 2) Create a fly-in ad or direct your traffic to a landing page that offers the free report for a sub. In the ad make sure you hit 'em were it hurts again... Are you risking yourself and your family members well being... etc., etc. 3) Create a monthly, bi-weekly autoresponder series with tips for improving home security. Include both free strategies and those they will need to pay for. An idea would be a step-by-step process for getting your home owners insurance lowered by adding home security. You know call your insurance company and see if they offer a discount and the requirements the system must meet, then purchase this, that, and this... install it... call your insurance company and tell them it was installed. Here are some other ideas real quick: Offer a free consultation to all subscribers to your newsletter. Give them a phone number or email address to contact you to discuss their security needs and make sure you respond at given contact info. Include a bonus item with purchase of certain packages. If they buy a complete home system you will throw in an extra key pad or something like that. Hope this helps and good luck!
