I have a question, will linking to sites with good PR (5 and over) will raise my own pagerank if i'm the only one linking to it, meaning I don't get reciprocal links? I have seen a guy putting tons of good links on his site and it raised to PR 4. Thanks for the help.
technically to answer your question, incoming links to your site are what give you PR. outgoing links like you have described does not do this. also. dont get cought up with PR too much. biggest mistake of any webmaster now a days.
Really? I thought PR meant highest search engine ranking and that it meant higher traffic? So technically, If I have someone linking to me then it'll count?
PR is a very very very rough indicator. I think PR better shows the age of the page. PR absolutly does not mean highest search ranking. Many pages that are #1 in google have lower PR's then pages below them
PageRank is calculated only on the number of incoming links to your website, taking into account the PageRank of the website the link comes from. Outgoing links has no influence on it. Don't waste time worrying about PageRank - just work on building quality and relevant links to your website.
That's great, but....I've already tried putting articles on article publishing sites with links. So far it says I only got 2 backlinks. Not sure i'll build good traffic that way.
I think there is no meaning in mentioning relevant links as Google has no algorithm to find out whether a incoming link to the site is whether from the relevant site or not? It is a simple propaganda by SEO's
So if I understand correctly, the only way to build traffic is by having other websites link to my main page? But what will backlinks do? And why when I use a backlink checker it says I have 2 for MSN, but 0 for google and 0 for yahoo? Thanks for the help btw, I know i'm a noob at this, but i'm trying to learn.
Of course Google have algorithms to detect relevancy of links - it's really not difficult. Google's core competance is knowing what a webpage is about, so relevancy of links is the next obvious step. In fact, they've probably filed a patent on it... Cryo.
i think he means other site's link toward his site as in in bound ( inward link ) not inlink ( link that points to other part of a domain )
What I mean, is other than getting links from other websites to mine, how can I promote my web site and get more traffic?
The Green bar or the Page Rank is a useless indicator these days, PR days are long gone, just do your link trades with any relevent site with good content without any junk on them and you'll get wot ur looking for
Thanks for the tip. Btw, how many visits you need on a site daily to have PR2? I managed to get there in 2 months, know it's not a lot, but have around 15-25 visits daily. I have no other sites that actually link to mine, so I don't know how I got there so fast.
people now a days do link building for increasing PR but its useless they should do link building with quality website and with proper enchor text . they it helps in search ranking. thank you keyur parmar
Thanks for the great tips, it really helps. Also is link visibility important? I explain, I used a tool to know how many times a search engine was showing my url link. and there is different lvls, like lvl 1 is between 0 and 1000, lvl 2 is 1001 to 5000 and so on. Is that an important thing to look for?
One way incoming links are what will boost PR of a site, and more importantly, traffic. Increasingly, google's algorithm is reducing the influence of reciprocal linking, possibly because of the way people can manipulate them/
