Hi, I was trying to figure out the best ways at promoting a wallpaper site but I cant figure out any good ways to do this so far I believe these are out of the question

buying links (too expencive for traffic)
articles (what am I going to write about?)
sigs (webmasters arnt really after wallpapers)
stumbleupon (its not really a entertainment site so I dont think it would convert very well)
Adwords (doesnt convert enough $$ to cover what it costs for 1c per visitor)

BTW since its a wallpaper site I could always alter the meta tags which then changes the ads displayed :p I tried it before and it does work was displaying mortgage ads. (but I thought this is probbaly against TOS so I changed it back)

does anyone have any ideas on how to build links? that will convert into traffic.

You have a good question. I am building a website with lots of Disney World images (wallpapers) I have taken. I don't see any easy way to promote the site either.

So any input on this topic is welcome from me as well.

I've partnered with Screensavers.com, using his wallpapers and screensavers on my site. They paid to me on CPA basis (per install). Many of those wallpapers/screensavers are from third parties.
I think you site can be any of those third parties if you have the rights of your wallpapers, but I don't know how much you get paid.

Um, I dont think I own the rights to the wallpapers they are more like free to use wallpapers. I would think many sites do have permission but they use them on the basis that they are free and no one is profiting from them.

I will check out screensavers.com and see what they can do.

when I was paying for visitors @ 1c per visitor ($1 budget) I made about 20 clicks aprox making 2c a click

The layout of my website isnt too bad for the ads - I use image ads and they do not trick a user into clicking them.

Just an idea. I know of alot of websites that have amateur signature/LP designers on them, and they are constantly looking for good wallpaper sites to use as stock images or what not. If you visit those sites, or would like more information on where to find these sites, toss me a pm. You could have a link on those sites, and post your site in their resource sections.

Earlier i hold a website with 17000 wallpapers in 30+ categories & 90+ sub categories & was running that on coppermine .

But i was not so succeed in that ... Now what i think where i lack are link exchange. Do following to get traffic

    1) Watermark ur site name site on walllpapers.

    2) Make a column Featured wallpaper of the day

    3) Add babes wallpapers on main

    4) Start link exchanging with other

    5) Post ur link to wallpapers site onForums & Blogs & in groups yaho or google

    6) Submit site to search engines & direc (do once in 30 day )

With these u'll start getting good traffic with out any investment

    5)

Watermark your images, bundle up your wallpapers and distribute them if you have the rights for these.

You can offer Wallpaper of day and let other webmasters to add it on your site. Just 100x100 image which change every day and when somebody click on it user come to your site.

I would think link exchanges would be most successful with a Wallpaper site, since competing sites probably do not have duplicate content. Sharing traffic would be a good method, also, be sure and tag those pictures for google image search. ;)

I gave this suggestion the other day about link building with images on this forum.

The basic idea is to let people steal your images, where you front the bandwidth. Go to myspace, and forums and junk like that and let people know that they're free.

Once they have stolen them and are using them, do a link:<<imageurl>> in yahoo, and email everyone that is stealing your image for their avatar or site.

Ask them for a discreet link somewhere on their site.

You get a one-way link. They get an avatar or stock photo. I explain it better in the linked thread.

You need to advertise (in forums and with digg) what makes your site better than other sites. Is it because you have a lot of widescreen wallpapers or is it because you have a lot of _________ wallpapers. I think that if you want success you are going to have to be different from everybody else.

And don't forget: Content is the king! Add tons of GREAT wallpapers on your site. Make some unique wallpapers with Photoshop or take you digital camera and do some great photos.

have you found a similar site via cj that pays per click?

so far no conversions and if I had google I would have made atleast 10c by now :p (clicks with google are about 1 or 2c shit payment amount.)

if it paid 4 or 5c per click that would be better than 60c per signup.
