http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-01-20-clinton-presidential-bid_x.htm?csp=34 I read in a poll somewhere recently that woman say they would not vote for her. So are we 1) Ready for a female president as a society? and 2) Is this a good move for Democrats. I would like to say that as a society, gender would not make a difference but I think I would be lying. Even though more women vote is this country than men, I don't think she will get out of the primaries. Good move for Democrats? Not sure, I think they believe and rightfully so, they are in the drivers seat this election and maybe this will be a good move among women voters.
Yes to #1: we are ready for a woman president. As to #2 (this being a good move for democrats). As Clinton has not been given their endorsement it can certainly only be good. Should she be awarded the ticket, then I think they may find themselves in the soup. Condoleeza Rice as a VP for the Reps would probably assuage any female driven fervor.
Maybe in NY, LA or Miami area where civilization is. I'm in the Hillbilly area of deep Tennessee, and believe me, they are not ready for a lady as President.
Cody... Tennessee notwithstanding the rest of the country probably wouldn't give a crap one way or the other.
I doubt (I hope) America is not ready for her again. If she got her way during her first reign in the White House we'd have government dispenced health care, one seventh of our economy would have been brought under the government control. Going to the doctor would have been like going to the DMV.
Just heard this on the news. I clapped out loud in approval. It's about time she formally announced it. Not sure if the US is actually ready yet for this. But having a woman run is the first step. Next up, a black candidate.
Maybe I'm too British to understand but isn't it right that you can only run for president if your name is Bush or Clinton?
This announcement comes as no surprise at all, the Illuminati already have her penned in to be the next President. Get with reality people.
Oh, we are ready for a female president. Come on Shoe, you of all people must know that (after your wife gave birth - like mine, they can do just about anything!)..... However, the country is certainly in no way interested in having another Clinton in office, male, female, hermaphrodite or otherwise.
It's going to happen Mia, another disastrous President with the surname of Clinton in charge of your country mate. I bet that disasterous idiot Bill is getting an erection just thinking about it.
I agree. However, I'm afraid that KY, ID, IA, MI, AR, etc...are on the same frequency about the subject...
MI has a woman for a governor. Were you trying to stereotype Mississippi (MS) not Michigan? I think most people are ready for the right person not just a black or just a women. I am much more comfortable with Colin Powell, Condaleza Rice, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Elizabeth Dole than someone that always impressed me as a power monger like Mrs. Clinton. It's too bad that Margret Thatcher wasn't born a few years later and a couple thousand miles west.
