    quick question

If you manage to get a wikipedia link to your site even if it points to an internal page is it worth much in the scheme of pagerank???? the wiki page is a PR6 btw.

Or because so many guys link spam there has google devalued it ???

YESS!!! It is worth as such other PR- 6 sites. If your link has not been removed, you're really lucky enough because most of the links will be removed by your competitors. Don't place too many links in a single page. It will be removed ASAP.

the problem is the link gets deleted..If you still have it then you are lucky...enjoy the good times..

and yeah it helps a lot..Google surely weighs links from wiki as a great source.

I don't think it's worth anything to have your link on for even 7 days, or you will have to keep posting all the time then google will spider your link and see it as permanent...

It is very sad that so many people have just their self interest on their mind and will destroy such a great resource as Wikipedia is to get something for free.

You should add unique CONTENT to wikipedia and if you do and if you have an unique site (and not a MFA crap with reprinted articles), your links will stay and you'll get targeted traffic.

If your link stays in wikipedia for months, then you're definitely lucky. A link in wikipedia is definitely worth something. It's more heavy than a link in DMOZ.

I just re-read your post after posting that i agree with you. If you are implying that im a MFA crap site etc etc than get of your high horse and mind your own business. Yes I do have reprinted articles on the site, if you ntocied I also have alot of articels which im writing every day. I stopped accepting submitted articels after the first few weeks of getting my categories filled. Now im concentrating on developing the content myself.

So if that comment was directed at me you know what you can do with it.

If not and ive miscontrued you then please ignore the above.

I agree with you, but this is kinda like obvious that people are going to do this, and furthermore its not just links. There are a lot of types of misinformation you could give that would be beneficial to certain parties.

A wiki link will sure bring you traffic depending in what niche your site is. Also, it's at least same powerful as any other PR6 link but Google knows wiki is a great site that links only to high relevant sites and I sure think that his adding more power to the link itself.

If your link is still there would be interesting to tell us how is your traffic from it.

Yes, I know that people will not stop doing this, because I personally disapprove. It is Wikipedia's job to detect and disable edits that lower the quality of their web.

I just felt like sharing my point of view...

I have one or two links to a site of mine that I put in several months ago. About 7% of that site's traffic comes from it. Get about 8% click through from Wikipedia visitors too, so its certainly worth trying.

As others have said, just spamming your link is probably a good way to get banned. If you have a genuinely useful site that offers additional information and details in the context of the wikipedia article, then go ahead as I think everyone benefits. Good links stay - spamming links to sites trying to sell crap or obviously just there to make money get removed by over editors.

Even 5% of total site traffic is a good addition because normally, it's laser targeted traffic.

No need to spam, it will vanish very quickly without any side benefit, they do their job pretty good.

I think we all agree that links from wiki are good to have so why not first make our sites worth to be on wiki and then submit not before.

i have seen this stuff somewhere else, thought i could share.

80% of PR of a site is given equally to the sites it have listed.
so since wiki have looooooot of links in it,it might give only little help.
