There's nothing wrong with it. Imagine the life of a person who's face was burned in an accident if there is no plastic surgery. I think it's good as long as it's not used to impersonate someone or for fraud.

A knife is having two ends. It depends on how we use it... Actually it is a very helpful for the severly injured persons. Don't consider Michael Jackson ( He is other end of the knife)

right. i wouldnt be opposed to surgery in cases of accidents.

but then again, there are those people can be so enamored with the surface image of things that theyd go to any lengths just to be someone else. they say the postmodern world is all about image and superficiality, but thats still no reason why people should go to under the knife every chance they get just because they don't like their left earlobe.

It's great for people that have an accident or are born with something. Although I like the bigger chests too. :)

I Don't see anything bad/wrong with plastic surgery. It is just a technology which can be used either ways. Depends on how a person use this medical advancement.

Plastic surgery to conform to society's "norm" of what beauty is... well, that's sad. But I'm not about to judge someone because injecting plastic into their bodies made them feel better. To each their own.

Like everyone else has said, it depends on how plastic surgery is used and to what degree someone goes under the knife.

that was my first thought as well with people having been in accidents - that the surgery is a blessing.

but yes, on the other end of the spectrum - against nature (see M.Jackson)

I thank God for the skilled plastic surgeon who did a wonderful job repairing my grandson's cleft lip. It will make a big difference in his life.

I think it can be very helpful, unless people start to misuse it by making themselves look better all the time, such as celebrities do. But overall I am very neutral about the subject.

This is a controversial subject. Plastic surgery for accidents is obviously fine. Plastic surgery to enhance your appearance (nose job, implants etc)? Those area fine to IMHO except for going Michael Jackson.

I remember one time seeing, I think it was on Oprah or something, this woman got $100,000 in plastic surgery to totally change her appearance. Before she got it she was not an attractive woman (not ugly but not attractive either). She not only realized this but her everyday life reflected it in the lack of attention and less respect she got from not only men but women as well. She had a good personality as well.

After she got all the surgery done she ended up being beautiful, it changed her life, she got a better career, married a successful GQ type of man, people not only noticed her more and gave her more attention but at the same time she got more respect from both men and women as well. Go figure. Fact is for better or for worse a persons looks matter because that is the world we live in.

I have heard in the past so many different people say things like "oh those are so fake" when it comes to a womans chest when she has had plastic surgery.

Yet I have never heard an observer say "look at those teeth they are so fake" when a woman spends $40-50K and gets their teeth capped.

Never have I heard someone say about a woman "look at her fake face" when she puts on makeup. I mean ... thats not her natural face, right?

Going furthur down the slippery slope, I have never heard anyone every say "shes looks so fake" when a woman puts on a respectable pretty dress.

These things are done (teeth capped, makeup, pretty clothes,) to improve their appearance. Why did she do these things? ... and this is key... Because she cares about her appearance. So many times I have watched women let themselves go. They dress in less appealing ways. They fix up their hair less often. They pack on the pounds. Obviously a woman who gets plastic surgery gives a _bleep_ about going the extra mile for her man (or prospective man). I say thats great.

When a woman gets implants or a nose job ... they become hers! Its who she now is ... they are no longer "implants" ... they are no longer "fake". Just like when a woman dyes her hair or changes her hair style.

If this world only focused on inner beauty (which you gotta have as well) ... you would never hear of elective plastic surgery such as nose jobs, implants, tummy tucks etc.

Do I feel this way because I like the way a woman looks with implants? Sure. But more because IMHO, they care about ... well ... they care! Why should they be persecuted by the jealous? Who are these jealous people? Usually the ones letting themselves go.

    My 2 cents :)

There are plenty of women who care about their appearance who DON'T opt for plastic surgery to conform to what society thinks is "beautiful." That's just bullshit.

I don't think a woman has to care about her appearance 24/7 to be desirable to men.

Just like anything in life, there will always be people who abuse it. It can be a great thing when used in moderation.

I'm not saying that a woman needs plastic surgery to care about her appearance. Not at all. There are countless woman who care about their appearance and have not had plastic surgery and they look great and dignified because they take care of themselves.

I'm just saying that for the ones that do elect plastic surgery obviously care about their appearance as well and those who persecute them should look into reasons why they do it. Many times (not all but many) it is done out of jealousy.

I really don't think that's the case. I've made comments about women who have obviously had plastic surgery.. and they would look much better without it. I'm certainly not jealous of women who choose to inject themselves with plastic. Rather, I'm sad about a society that pushes women to go to such drastic measure to fit in with what's supposedly beautiful.

I'm not going to judge someone for changing something they're unhappy about. I think it's sick to look down on something like that, only positive things come from it. There are people who abuse it though and hurt themselves, and I hope they get help.

Plastic Surgery is for those who needs it not those who wants it. If a person's face is disfigured I guess it is a need for her/him to do so. BUt if just for the sake of making you look good in public that is pathetic!
