why is Google searching for 'adsense' on my blog???

I was just going through my server logs, and looking at the last google crawl. On the same crawl both the GoogleBot and the 'Mediapartners-Google/2.1' spider crawled my site.

Anyways, I found it strange to see the following query in the logs:
That link doesn't exist anywhere on my site, so Google has obviously detected that I'm running WordPress and initiated a search for Adsense.

    The question is, why??

Are you saying you DON'T have Adsense on your site? I wasn't sure...

I do have adsense on my site. And I'm aware that the adsense bot crawls. But performs searches with my search form? That's unheard of

Is that just a standard search form?

i think you have put adsense code at your site, and have already found by adsense bot, so adsense bot often check your site.

yup, just a standard search form, look at the top right of my blog (beside my avatar)

Google claims their spider crawls only links, doesn't submit forms....

Well I might be wrong but I have noticed Googlebot replicate my search on my websites sometimes. For example if I search for "Food" I will notice google bot search "Food" on my website and I don't know why. Perhaps you or some of your visitors searched for Adsense on your website

I believe this happens because the mediabot crawls the page after the user requests it to see what ads will be served on it. Since it is rare that a search will be performed more than once with the exact same search phrase by two different users the adsense server has nothing on its cache to know which ads are relevant to the search page.. I hope this is clear for you...

No, it's not unheard of. It's looking for additional information on your site, and basing the ads it serves (as well as your regular ranking in search results) on what it finds. It's not talked about much, but it happens. :)

I just posted two threads on my forum and immediately after the adsense spider viewing my site started viewing the threads. I found this wierd.
