What's the best way to promote a SMS site?

I just took on a new challenge, and I figured I would ask you all for some help. I just launched a new website (www.talkmsg.com) and I am starting to promote it. I have been posting bulletins on my two MySpace accounts a little bit, but not too much (for obvious reasons).

I'm not going to try to spend much (or any) money to get this off the ground, and start getting some traffic.

Yesterday, the first day that I really have had the website online, I got 40 uniques, and that's from MySpace traffic alone. That's all I have for traffic details right now...

What can I do to promote my site? Should I just stick to MySpace advertising, directories, top sites? Or should I try something new?

Do you know of any good top sites that I can submit to for free? Directories?

Thanks in advance, I am looking forward to your responses.

You could try having some buddies, or pay someone to blog about you. "This service is awesome! Try them out: www.talkmsg.com". Something like that...

Forums sigs would probably work pretty well too, assuming you are active in the forum.

Yes! That completely slipped my mind, I forgot about forum sigs. I'll have to add that site into mine.

Your sig can also help you in search engine results if you use anchor text that people are likely to look for.

"Send free text messages, from your computer, to anywhere in the world!" as one link, is not as good as terms people might actually search for.

    Such as:

Send free text messages, from your computer, to anywhere in the world!

look up what people are actuall looking for:

    http://tools.seobook.com/general/keyword/

Then go for either the high ones (hard to compete with), or the ones that only recive very few searchs, but could help you in a niche market.
