I'm not making this post to say whether I deny holocaust or I think it happened... That can be a very good discussion by itself.. My question is, why is it against the law in countries such as Germany to deny it? Obviously there is controversy around it and some people believe in it while some don't. Isn't it the essentials of democracy to allow people discuss various beliefs? Why make it against the law? It reminds of me when some third world country's government doesn't allow media to be against them. What is Germany (and other countries who have similar laws) are scared of? Cheers, Nima
Interesting that you think holocaust denial makes for good discussion. That says a lot about you, and your character. As for Germany, they feel it is their national interest not to deny something that is demonstrably true. As for me, I like when people like you bring up topics like this. Lets me know where you stand. browntwn
You see, you don't understand what im saying... I'm not talking about whether holocaust happened or not. What national interest?
lol... why post that on my reputation? I didn't even say where I stand on the issue. Mainly because that is not the point... You don't wana talk about holocaust? how about the Armanian mass murders in Turkey. There was a big issue when France wanted to make denial of it a crime... My point is, no matter what the reality was, people should be allowed to openly discuss their opinions...
I don't have anything in common and I am not related with jews and israel or germans in any way ... hey I am slavic ... but still somehow I feel angry when I see things like this ... It makes me sick ... very sick ... where do these people live ?
I mean today when we have all the info at our hand and where we can find tons of evidence material about this some people still try and doubt it .... Stone Age people hehe ....
It's against the law because denial leads to recurrance. Denying it is spitting on the graves of millions of people. It's saying you don't value life. Most people who deny it think it would have been a good thing "if" it did happen. Muslim terrorists and terrorist states take it a step further than deny that it happened but think it'd be fantastic if it happened. There's no shortage of rhetoric accusing Jews of all kinds of rediculous things in order to get the masses to not blink an eye when a Muslim blows themself up in the pursuit of the murder of Jews. And now we have a new breed of deniers: people who don't think those who call for the destruction of Israel are serious about mass murder to accomplish the goal.
Nah, I don't think they are doubting it, they just refuse to believe it and work hard on a daily basis to convince others to do the same, irregardless of the truth.
It is not illegal in USA. USA has even refused to sign a treaty to make it a cyber crime on the Internet based on free speech objection. http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/cybercrime/COEFAQs.htm#QA3
Only a person like you can find a humor in killing so many Jews and refer to it as cooking Jews. Some times when you are not careful to follow the party line then your true nature as bigot shows itself.
Nobody here are trying to answer you, but why not ask why the nazi party are illegal in Germany. Thats obvious isnt it ? As your question on holocaust, the answer is as obvious.
