No the majority of my sites are directed at an international audience. I do however run a mobile phone retailing company which you can see in my signature. If you'd like to PM me in regards to .com.au domains I'd be happy to answer any of your questions.

I'm glad you could make it to DP - it's a wonderful forum with loads and loads of great information.

Thanks for the informative and inspiring post, Burta! I'll follow your advice the best I can. I'm also struggling with setting priorities between school and web stuff.

Sorry to everyone else; I didn't read through this thread so this post probably isn't really linearly relevant. :p

Thanks, Burta! Your strategy is pretty much identical to mine. It seems the biggest issue is time. For me, it always comes down to there just not being enough hours in the day!

Thanks Burta for showing how we could all follow some simple rules and have our sites do much better!

It is good to read the how others have built their online business and it has provided me a few tips on how I can continue to build mine.

I followed your adsense template Burta, and my CTR still has not improved. I made some changes to my old template design wise, making it more aesthetically pleasing. Page views per visitors have increased but CTR and EPC has dropped dramatically.

I was wondering if you could help me with the CTR? I have left you a pm for my site.

Well setting priorities is always tough and unfortunately in life to truly succeed in one aspect it invariably requires you to temporarily sacrifice some of the other areas of life.

I personally dropped down to part time uni, moved back home, promised myself I wouldn't get in a relationship for 9 months and stopped going out on weekends and during the week (with exception of going to my friend's 21st birthday parties, LOL, which there was almost one a week anyway - :p). The only other thing I did was play sport. I play Ultimate Frisbee (http://www.upa.org & http://www.wfdf.org/) and trained a fair bit last year, normally at least 4 times a week, but that is only because I had a really big tournament in November, and to be honest if I didn't have that tournament I would have definitely cut that vast majority of that commitment out as well.

As for 2007, I plan to drop my commitment to my sport down, and defer for 6 months from uni, but I definitely don't plan to be nearly as anti-social this year, I think you can only neglect the relationships in your life for so long before you start doing serious detrimental damage to them - and for most people the thought of not seeing their friends for weeks on end is a bit daunting - but that is what I did for 9 months but I'm not really interested in neglecting that area of my life anymore, plus I made a commitment to myself at my 21st birthday that I wouldn't drag this anti-social behavior out because you only have so much time on this planet and you can't take your money with you so whilst earning good money is nice, relationships are what really matter at the end of the day.

LOL well that was a bit of a rant - long story short sometimes you have to sacrifice somethings in order to anything significant. It is just the way it is.

I guess my response to this is sorta the same as the above - you can definitely make more time for yourself, you just have to sacrifice things, but I feel with you that even then there aren't enough hours in the day.

The other problem that is important to overcome when time is an issue is the need to focus. You may have 10 ideas, but you can only realistically pursue one or two of them so your best off just writing your other ideas down somewhere and then truly focusing on those one or tow that you believe are the best and then going at them 100%. If after completing these projects to the point of satisfaction then you reassess the previous opportunities, and often they may not be there anymore, or you will look back at them and go, well to be completely honest they weren't even that good of ideas anyway in comparison to what I know and can do now.

    No I'm not I'm sorry.

Yeah, that's an amazing thing... I shared some info about what astounding results may be achieved by investing time in building sites with some of my friends and my younger brother, and I was just amazed with how little they were interested.

One of the reasons here may be that personally I can't boast big adsense earnings (I just launched a site a few days ago), but you can, so for you it's not the reason

One more thing: I noticed that quite a number of people in this thread mentioned that your first post has been a long read (actually it is over 2500 words long - I did the count).

I've been thinking about what is the best article size from the point of view of a user, so I started a thread ( http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=223367 ) about it. May be you have something to say on this subject... I'd appreciate you sharing your opinion
