I dont know if you guys play poker or not, but this is big concern for poker players in U.S Neteller is not even an American company...
Isn't online poker 100% banned in the U.S. now? I would think most of these founders/CEOs are pretty exposed.
Online poker is not banned in the US right now. Some poker rooms, such as Ultimate Bet, Full Tilt, and Pokerstars, still allow US poker players; just the publicly held (traded on stock exchange) companies such as Party had to withdraw I think. Yeah Neteller is a Canadian based company. The founders who were arrested have not worked for Neteller in a couple of years. I think Neteller will no longer allow transactions from US customers, but they are a large publicly traded company so they should issue cheques for their account balances.
WTF, the CEO of Neteller was arrested? These gambling laws in the U.S. are a complete joke. It is just the first step of a government attempt of the take over of the internet. Its a free market, people should be allowed to spend their money however they choose.
It is illegal in the us to gamble online read here. https://secure.partyaccount.com/faq/us_legislation.htm http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h109-4411
This is partially true. These sites are petitioning the ruling and allowing US players to continue playing until after the ruling (or atleast until an injunction) on the argument that poker is a game of skill, not of chance. As a poker and blackjack player, I partially agree with this.
I dunno, I think the U.S. has enough debt and problems with Debt... the last thing the government wants is for a bunch of idiots playing games OTHER THAN poker (blackjack, etc.) that are unregulated and uncontrolled from foreign countries. The money is getting sucked from the economy here and sent overseas... When I used to play Blackjack online, I would see some crazy crazy stuff... even though I am a frequent gambler at casinos IRL. Online gambling is rigged sometimes. Im not talking about Poker though... but then again, the online casinos dont make money from Poker really...
Bush made this law as a favor to the US casinos to get people off their asses and back into the casions. The US gambling industry was losing money. Yeah, and how many of them are actually US owned anyway? Anything amercan Indian for starters is gone just as if it went to another country.
