I will sell tunes for 0.99$ on a site, that means that paypal will suck out 30% of the payment for each song. I cant go with that, the artists need money also. Any ideas of what to use. I dont live in the US so I cant use G checkout. It have to be possible to pay with credit cards.
You can try E-Gold or Moneybookers and both of them has very low fee, but not many people use them (especially in countries where paypal is available).
PayPal Micropayments is what you are looking for, and it was designed with music stores like iTunes in mind: 5% + 0.05 per transaction. PayPal Integration Center: Micropayments
Thanks Chance. That could be nice, but here is the text: "PayPal offers support for Micropayments to merchants for US to US, GB to GB, AU to AU, and EU to EU transactions" I read it as an US cannot pay an EU with micropayments.
I would assume thats because of exchange rates. I would contact PP and ask if a higher micropayment rate would apply for international transactions. I've created a micropayment account for the US market, and I can tell you that the entire account is micropayment specific- you must create a completely new PP business account to accept micropayments and every transaction on the account must be a micropayment. Its the only instance where multiple PP business accounts are allowed in fact. With that in mind, it would suggest that they have a solution set up for international transactions at a possibly higher rate (which is better than 2.5%/.30 even if its 1 or 2% more). Of course, thats just conjecture on my part so be sure to check with PayPal.
Thanks, but 2CO will take 50% of the payment for each song (when the song costs $0.99), even more expensive than Paypal.
Google checkout is only for the US. I would have loved to use that though. Damn, why do you US people get all the sugar. YPN, Google Checkout, George Bush...( )
Google Checkout now includes more countries other than US alone ..lol.. check it out , if your country is listed then you can use Google Checkout
On alertpay, the customers have to sign up with alertpay. Yo much hazzle. many will not do that. Google Checkout merchants must have a U.S. bank account and address.
I'm confused - I see my country listed but they say I MUST have a US address. Which is it? Is it that I need to have a US Address OR be listed in on of the countries listed? I started reading up on it and I am so excited about it I really hope that I can pull this off - this will be the answer to all my questions!!!
