Have you checked to see if any of your content has been scraped? It seems I have found a few culprits who have scraped some stuff from my site and it's usually short phrases not full paragraphs/articles. Could this be a reason for some of our drops in rankings?
I really do not think that would be a reason for drops in any rankings, especially if your content was there before they snagged it.
I lost my ranking in google for a few days, and then it came back yesterday. Really don't know what's going on with google.
Yup, as of yesterday I have lost my ranking completely. From top 10 to nowhere to find... Hopefully this will be corrected soon.
People stealing content from your site and using it on their sites. I'm not saying this IS the reason but everything is all over the place with google right now so it's definately something to consider.
Not at all... shouldn't hurt ya too bad unless it's an authority site scraping U - which is unlikely I would threaten them with a DMCA notice, but if it's a BH Spam site, I doubt they will care
I think it's not a problem. I think your competitor may do better SEOs for them website. have you already test with site:http://www.your-stie.com Is it still list by google?
If the site which scrapped the content is better (in terms of PR and backlinks) than that may be a reason.
I dont think that's the reason. I use rss feeds on a lot of my pages for listings. Some pages are in serps and others have vanished. This has happened before and the pages have come back. I got hit about Jan 3 - they came back temporarily sunday but have gone again.
I dont think that would be a reason because then it would be too easy for anyone to do this against their competitors. My impression is that google is in a bit of a mess. Its simple as that.
Hi, mmmm I don't think so, just wait a couple of days, as I say in another post, I recommend no make changes on your pages for now. Last days I wanted to optimize my pages for Yahoo and MSN, but I waited and the pages come back to Google..... I know, is hard wait......... but this is my experience... Best, Jakomo
The quote below is from Matt Cutts blog (big G guy). He was reviewing some websites at PubCon and some people were wondering why their sites were suffering in the SERPS. In the case below the guy had many sites but still the big G is looking out for duplicate content. Yes duplicate content can harm your ranking even a few phrases. Note that Cutts has said that dup content on the SAME site can be filtered out so if you keep posting - "today's daily stock report from toledo home of the mudhens" - everyday when you review the stock market you should be ok. Scrapped sites suck. The larger issue was searching for a few words from a description quickly found dozens of other sites with the exact same descriptions. We discussed the difficulty of adding value to feeds when you’re running lots of sites. One thing to do is to find ways to incorporate user feedback (forums, reviews, etc.). The wrong thing to do is to try to add a few extra sentences or to scramble a few words or bullet points trying to avoid duplicate content detection. If I can spot duplicate content in a minute with a search, Google has time to do more in-depth duplicate detection in its index. www.mattcutts.com/blog/2006-pubcon-in-vegas-thursday-site-reviews/
That's funny. I have 53 blogs with the exact same content on each of them and I get over 8000 pageviews a day (collectively) on average still. So, according to Mr Cutts statement, how is my scenario working? Col
That is completely different dOOd - they said only snippets.. not even a paragraph worth... So, it WON'T hurt.. I know a thing or 2 about duplicate content - he he - from what is described it should not be adversely affecting the rankings.
u guys are lucky u only lost some ranking because 2 of my websites totally dispeared from the index 4 days ago then 1 came back yestereday and disapeared again today. google is going crazy .
