    I was inspired, by another conversation, to try to help you with fun advice.
    Be a waiter or waitress in a decent restuarant.
    What? Sh^t job!!....

    No, I've been out of it for 5 years, but some of the best memories of my life will be the waiter jobs:

    Good points:
    -Meet a huge variety of people (even your co-workers are a rotating group of many part-timers)
    -Fun. In a place with good managers, and decent servers, you can have fun every time you go to work.
    -Cash Every Day

    You will want to be part-time (less cash then), or figure out how to get medical insurance, but (for some people) it's a fun adventure you will never forget. :)

    /ps. Ask nice, older couples to tell you about where they enjoy travelling, keep a list, and never give up believing you can go someday.

    'Top 5' for me to still do:
    -Alaska Cruise
    -The Fiords Of Norway
    -Austin City Limits Music Fest
    -More time in Northern Cal
    -Swiss Alps

    Now if you want to: Enjoy your over $450/week in a 'very easy' job.
    Ask your trainer to teach you to keep organized, and handle at least 4 tables at a time (on some days you might end up in the freezer screaming, and wishing you had never read this post)

    ///Very clean fun restuarant = Romano's Macaroni Grill (They also own 'On The Border')

    Anyone else a former or current waiter?
    Would you advise someone to apply? ;) :)

    Just be a valet here in Vegas and you'll make about 40k a year. Or you could be a dealer. Dealers in good houses can make 60-80k.

    Vegas is the best city to work in if you have low/no skills and/or didn't go/graduate from college. :)

    I think even the servers at Olive Garden do $450+ a week.

    I'm sure many different jobs make for good memories.
    I was conservative with the number, waiters can make 5,6,7, $800 bucks a week.

    Vegas?
    Very Good for some people, but too hot in the summer. :)

    It's hot as hell here in the summer. I've lived in Vegas for 27 years and I still hate the summer. But, that's why you take vacations or live somewhere else in the summer. :)

    Ever make it to Laughlin Nv and walk along the river at night (any time of year)?
    That place is a low-cost paradise, especially if you don't gamble.

    -99cent ('3/4 size' omlet, complete breakfast meals)
    -No Bums (like Vegas has)
    -$1.99 Steaks (full meals)
    -Free drinks, some without gambling (Riverside, free daily coupons)
    -Beautiful, safe river walk...

    A very fun cheap place, even better (for some) when you don't gamble. :)

    Have you been to Vegas in the past 10 years? They kicked the homeless out of downtown back when the Fremont experience was built and you're not likely to see one on the Strip either.

    Downtown: This is where places like the Horseshoe, Golden Nugget, Fremont and Plaza is located. It's "old vegas." Good for those on a tight budget.

    Strip: The main hangout for tourists. This is where Caesar's Palace, NY NY, Luxor, MGM and so forth is located.

    And that's just a couple miles of Vegas. There's a lot more to the city than those two spots. :)

    If you're looking for a good time in a great casino, the Red Rock is the place to go. It's a local's casino and in Summerlin--not the tourist areas.

    Haha... Your right. I went to Lauglin with a couple friends and we probably spent 1/4 what we would have spent in Vegas. We wakeboarded durring the day and gambled and then went to a club at night. (I think we got a table and a bottle of Kettle One for $80 or $100...)!

    This was mainly to help students who want to be in a fast-moving, (sometimes) fun workplace.
    If you have a roomate, Yes, many people can easily live off of $1800 / month.

    Once.
    OK. Within the Fremont experience area, correct no bums.
    Only 2 1/2 to 4 blocks straight south, I saw:

    -bums and
    -This poor guy was dragging around 3 huge suitcases (first week homeless?), and he looked like he intended to keep dragging them 'around in circles' for ever. :)
    ~~~~~~~
    Yes Marketjunction: Vegas is bigger, brighter, more exciting, and in some ways truly awsome.
    Laughlin, is quite, cheap, naturally beautiful, and one of the best places in the world to land if you are ever 'stranded for a few days with a very low budget.'
    :D
    Also, the other side of the river has a nice campground with a 100% beautiful row of palm trees.
    Downtown was a crap place before the Fremont Experience went up. It's the old old old Vegas. :)
    The FE was an attempt to revitalize it some and it worked. They just pushed the bums south a few blocks (by El Cortez, Western, etc).
    As to the summers, it's not unlikely to see temps reach up to 120F.
    A single person could survive on $1800 a month TAKE HOME here. If you rent a small apartment in a decent area, that will set you back probably $800 a month. Figure $200 or something monthly for utilities. It's not a great living, but it's survival.
    If you're a 18-30 (ish) woman and you look good, you can always be a cocktail waitress. They typically can make 50k or so and most of the money is tips, which isn't reported past a certain amount.
    Usually, the places you can easily earn $xxx a night are the ones with a higher cost of living.
    6000 is more than enough if you are single.
    i live like a bum and keep my monthly spend less than 1000.
    550 for rent (share a 2 room apartment with friend)
    100 for transportation ( 70 dollar unlimited subway card)
    and 300 - 400 for food and other stuff
