1 month ago a created a 100% flash site for a company , and guess what google indexed the full flash site as "TEXT" oh my god. is this New ?
Google has been indexing Flash sites for quite some time now. Just search the DP forum for "Flash" in the Google threads...
am really sorry i cant give the url, but just google some flash sites and u will see, this is really great because now u can have cute and well designed sites that are in the same time seo friendly
I don't think that flash sites are equally indexed as html pages. There is only mainpage cached by google. Am I wrong?
Google started reading .swf/Flash documents about 3 years ago now. They started by just decrypting complete URLs within them to find links, but they have since added the capability of extracting the text from these files. But the thing that you have to keep in mind is that the way Flash files are incorporated into web pages make search engines (well... for now, only Google) treat them as separate child documents of the enclosing parent HTML page - much like child pages referenced through a <frame> or <iframe> tag - and thus usually have only one "link" pointing to them from the parent page. So, they have two strikes against them going in: (1) anemic PageRank with essentially zero anchor text boost, and (2) no ability to emphasize keywords via mark-up as you can with HTML documents.
I had been avoiding going with Flash for awhile because I was afraid that the site would never be indexed.
the number of posts someone has means nothing, he may of learnt it all on another forum, or may be lurking or something else! anyway, yeah I've seen the SE's index flash for the past 2 years, but it's been a bit hit or miss in my opinion, some flash no problems! other flash, it doesn't even recognise the file. It's a bit too unreliable for me to have a proper dive into it at the mo
Dig forums to find exact descriptions of which parts of .swf files get indexed and which not. This helps to show, or hide certain information without cloaking.
I agree with Dudibob, it's a little to early to jump for flash sites. But, they will sure develop this to the point where flash and html sites will fight equally.
