I am gonna write a SEO book by myself, and release it for free Can you please tell me which topic you would like me to cover? Just to be sure I won't forget anything really important Until now i wrote 5 chapters: -History of search engines (General things for newbies) -How search engines works (General things for newbies) -Link Building Strategies ( I wrote about 20 ways of getting links, and I am not talking about shxxx like : set a goal , make sure your site is worth a link -On website optimization. -> I am talking here not only about <h1><title> tags but also about ideas for developing content as mad... like developing some CMS and export large amount of data from excel files... could be anything from games cheat codes, to property lists, etc or adding a forum to your website, guestbooks, references about others websites,"directories" (not simple web directories, but niche ones, a directory can also be a "product category directory",no?! )etc -SPAM Tehnics I am gonna talk about all of them ! lol

Tough go M8 - First thing you really want to do is; 1. Identify target audience ( Noob, Intermediate, advanced) 2. Identify resource nature (comprehensive - condensed) 3. Format - (historical - educational -tutorial - strategic) Part of the problem I faced (and others I know writing publications) was trying to meet the goal of making it concise, but not bloated. Many folks expressed an adversion to 300 page publications. As such - controlling how much was too much - was a challenge I could write a book on ANY one SEO discipline ( Link building, KW Research, OnPage, Article Marketing) - which I am. So ceating a single publication covering SEO as an over-view, can be challenging As for me, topically - I went with these for the SEO book contents Need any feedback or help - let me know.. I had a lot of support from DP members with mine
Well ... yes... I will must to add a chapter of "How to create your website first of all" and help me people research for keywords, etc . I also need to write about seo tools, stats counters, traffic analizer, etc
(those above are acutally Web Analytics/Metrics/Conversions topics not SEO) See what I mean? It starts to grow out of control. Thus the early planing is essential. The larger the publication - the more U alienate those not interested in LARGE publications. Then there is the problem of a large book taking a year to write. How fresh will the content ultimately be? There is a TON to consider most certainly - Here if ya need me M8 - I know at least 4 people writing 'SEO Books' at the moment and I am recruiting people I know to help with my next editions. We're doing 'Handbooks' based on the various aspects, instead of one large publication That way, if some one wants to study JUST 'Kw Research and Targeting' they simply grab a handbook and zip through it.... This approach was based on the feedback I have had on various forums It's a fun go though... better have tough skin as well.. you mess up and EVERY SEO on the planet will be more than happy to tell the world your wrong... so be tight with your information and writing
One most important and very less answered question. How to do seo in all three major search engines at the same time?
yes mong,i m facing the same probs right now and searching for its answers since long time but not getting satisfactory answers.
How about a page of useful SEO tools? Or even teach the readers how to create their own keywords ranking tool using the respective APIs
The Tools/Resources list was something else I struggled with. A list of 100s of tools is simply not effective. I tried to put in the BEST tools and resources IMHO - bombarding the reader with tools and resources is just not as effective as far as I am concerned. A concise and effective list encourages them to get on with the task at hand
Sounds good, i will look forward to it when its released, i dont have any additional suggestions for the time being, seems like you will be covering a lot of great stuff and the other suggestions have been good too. Best of luck with this softgroups
You might want to drop the "History of Search Engines" chapter... after all, knowing things like Yahoo started out as a list of personal bookmarks or that Google was actually called "Backrub" when it was nothing but a college project isn't helping my SERPs
I totally agree. Keep it very short sweet and to the point. I'd rather pay 50 bucks for a book with 20 good pages of concise information that will make me $1000 than a 500 page book that looses my attention and makes me nothing, except mad that I bought it.
Well that's cool - mine is only $10 and has 23 pages -- weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Oh and I sent a copy over for your research Softie -- look forward to helping in any way
Hey there, that sounds like a great idea! I have already started to do that but I sell mine as individual products. Free seems like a kind gesture u go
