I think that your position is very strong.

Depending on the governing laws such links could be illegal and therefore you had to take them down whatever.

And you should report him to the authorities, in that case obvioulsy.

Also, just wait and see if he follows up because chances are that he won't, otherwise he would not have asked such a ridiculous amount of money if not to scare you.

So I think you can relax...

You did a trade for services not for money and now he cant do anything

He may well take you to court but i wouldn't be worried.

 

what i have learnt is no deal without agreement. business doesn't just work by words, all points with details should be covered and work to be given precisely as per provided, anything additional to be charged extra.
in case work is not done some one wants to over charge the "provider" put it in the terms of service before doing business.
