I have been using adwords foir the last 6 months and it is a great lead generator, I am always ranked between 3 and 7 on the side sponsored links but have never got to the top 3 in the blue on the main page. Is there any quick fix ideas on this subject or any reputable companies out there who can assist in the adwords campaign and natural SEO listing.

It is a combination of several factors:
    1. bid
    2. ad relevancy
    3. ad popularity
    4. landing page quality score

Assuming you are bidding the amount you are happy bidding and any more would eat into your profits the only thing you can do is improve your quality score.

For this you need to do organic seo, link baiting and fill your site with quality content.

I agree. Are you using a landing page for your ad or does your ad link directly to the home page of your website (ideally the page with the greatest number of backlinks)

That's not they only thing you can do. Tweaking your ads constantly to drive higher CTR will actually get you higher rankings as well. Google rewards the ads that are clicked more often

Good point, forgot about that. :)

I tend to have 5 ads running at the same time so Google can select the one with best CTR automatically.

The key issue is likely to be the terms you are bidding on. If these do not exist in your website it will be hard to gain a high quality score for them.
