Forum Signatures Traffic

I am thinking of getting traffic this way.

Have many different websites but for example i run a gaming website and put signature link in many gaming forums. Daily post around 50+ so how much traffic you can expect with this posting level?

I receive some traffic from DP just because i have links in my signatures. I was thinking it's a great idea of getting nice and targetted traffic?

    But what average is?

Personally I don't know how successful those links are... I imagine they will come in handy when PR is updated. I would also like to find an answer for this.

They don't help in pr because most forums have no follows on signature links so that search engines don't count them as backlinks. They may still bring in traffic though, depending on the size of the forum, the relativity of the link to the forum, and how much the user posts.

I'd say it's definitely a useful source of traffic. I setup an adwords account the other day and ran my ads for an hour. During the hour, I copied the link and description from my ad, put it in my signatures and posted on a number of forums I occasionally visit. It cost me £6 for the hour of ads and I got 30 clicks. During the next 24 hours I got over 100 clicks from my posts.

I have a work-in-progress directory type site that is specifically for forums where you can get signature traffic. I'm hoping to build up a huge list of suitable forums but finding them, checking the activity and checking whether or not signatures are allowed takes up so much time.

Based on the forum you post to, the traffic will be different. For DP, maybe you can get about 20 IPs/day, but for some others maybe 1-5 or not. And the most important thing is that you shall make these unique visitors to returning visitors.

on target based forums signiture links can bring a plethora of traffic the only thing is many wont allow competiting links in the sig... but its always worth a shot for PR and traffic.... just dont spam the forums make quality relevant posts.

it would depend on 3 main factors

1] How active the forum is overall.
2] How active you are within that forum.
3] How related the sig links are to the forum you are posting in.

agree with just-4-teens. To have successful signature links, first you have to check the nature of the forum itself, who are the visitors and how active the forum is.

I heard some forums block the sig links from search engines but allow your url in your profile - could this be true?

I just made a few (no more than 10) on as many forums as I could find. One in particular got me 50+ but that was a fairly specific forum/site network and I was linking to something that it was lacking. It's not really per day either - the hits soon died out.. it just made my PPC campaign seem a very expensive source of traffic.

Some forums allow you to display your link but tagged with the nofollow attributes so that the bots will ignore these links..

The way I see it, forums are a great way to get targeted visitors. Even if you get only 20 visitors a day, that's 20 targeted visitors that will certainly be more effective than 200 less targeted visitors.

if you participate regularly in one or two formus is OK getting traffic from them as an added value, but I think that trying to post in order to get traffic is impractical as posting can be very time consuming.
I mean, four hours a day posting can give you 100/day as long as you don't stop posting. Four hours a day of SEO will give you more permanent traffic.
