Hi, Do deeplinks benefit your front page? What I mean by that, is if I had a high PR site linking to a subpage on my site. Apart from any value passed to the subpage, would I get anything going to my front (main) page?
As long as there's a link to your main page, you're fine. I can't imagine why you wouldn't create one though ... your site would be rather hard to navigate if you always had to type in your homepage
Thats a question that is at the forefront of peoples minds when thinking about whether to buy front page or deep link. A link to any page of the site will be good for the domain itself.
In a well designed site PR flows naturally from deep pages to navigational pages (including the homepage), back to other deep pages. So getting links to deep pages gets your whole site more 'PR' and more 'trust' if the site that does the linking is itself 'trusted'.
It has helped my site out a lot. Most pages have a central navigation break down like mine, so at the deepest page there are links to all pages that came before the deepest. For example ... for my scuba world shirt the links are: SEVEN DEADLY SINS : PRIDE : SCUBA WORLD : SCUBA FLAG GLOBE MEN'S APPAREL : Scuba Flag Globe Black T-Shirt That deep inner page currently says it's page rank 5, so assuming that were the page rank, that would be passed to all the previous pages (note: the more links a page rank is passed to, the less value each link gets ... if a page rank 5 page points to just 1 link, then it's more valuable than if it points to 5). The biggest thing that helps is the fact that with deeper pages getting higher values, Google is pointing more people to the specific pages they seek, as opposed to my homepage. Varying the link text used each time will also help you to seem more natural.
In that regard, a sitemap should also be very useful tihing to use on any site because it provides links to all the important parts of a site.
I disagree, if have a fairly new site and a high ranking site linking to your sub page and not main page then it is not termed good. Why would a good ranking site link to a low rank sub page.
If I have a home repair site I want links from a plumbing site to link to my plumbing page, electrical to electrical, etc.
Yes definitely Google ill consider each deep back link to the domain only So all would count to your domain
In short, yes. This is because it tells Google that the different content on your site is interesting and of value, but also because it looks natural. Think about it, a normal website would have links to all different pages not just the homepage. So if all your backlinks point to the homepage this would appear unnatural to Google. Simon
