Google Analytics Vs. Statcounter

Discussion in 'Google Analytics' started by jamesplato, Jan 16, 2007.

I tried so hard to use Analytics from Google, but to be honest; it can't hold a candle to statcounter. Am I missing something in why so many people seem to love it? I mean, I get the whole Adsense stats thing, but if you want something simple like how many hits, where they came from, how long they stayed etc, Analytics just doesn’t do it. What do you think?

I like statcounter but I guess Analytics is more for tracking conversions, etc...statcounter can't really do that.

Statcounter has limited features(unless you pay them) while Ananlytics is 100% free

Analytics rocks.. First of all it is free. 2nd, it gives you all of the info how people found your site. It also only counts real visitors. You can ping your site to death and a lot of freebies like webalizer will count them. Analytics only counts real visits. You can now also tie in with adsense and adwords for the complete picture. The only downside is by installing the code you are letting the big G see exactly what you are up to...

I have heard much about Google analytic. I really want to learn it and become a guru in the field while still learning more. Just want to know if there is a free tutorial on it and how to get across it. Solutions will be appreciated, thanks for your anticipated help.

Oh really? How EXACTLY does it do that? I've been wanting to find out where my conversions came from, but I thought I needed to use Prosper202 for that.

Think about what makes you money. If you want lame traffic counts, how is that helping you optimize your site? it's not. Maybe numbers gets you giddy. But for me, it's all about the benjamins. I want to see conversions and how content is relating to that. Google has pretty cool analytics, but if your company like the real deal, check out Omniture. They're more pricey but they have lots of cool features that blow Google out of the water.
