    You can't check positions beyond 1000. While Google will report an enormous number of relevant pages when you search, it really only generates a list of the top 1000.

    The fact is I need to check someone's site (not mine). I want to know if it is on 2485th or 10,967th...position in Google. Is this possible? Just asking.

    First you might want to check if the site has any idexed pages in google by typing the following into the search box:

    site:yourdomainhere.com

    well, I don't see a point of checking such low ranks. To get a little satisfaction, it is ok to see your link in top 600 or 500. But that really doesn't mean anything because no one really comes to your site from Google!

    I figure, if my site doesn't show within the first few pages nobody is going to really dig that deep anyway. :)

    In the above example you could sell your SEO help by saying;

    You're currently number 2,345 for "movies reviews".
    I'll get you to top 30 for "movies reviews" for $XXXX.

    It would make an interesting sales pitch. The worse the ranking the better it looks.

    Just a thought on the subject.

    Well, this is an exact reason why I'm asking it. Another reason is for my site. If I'm today on 5,432th position and make some great SEO moves, I want to check if I moved up on 4,321th maybe. But even Google and Yahoo themselves don't display results after 1,000th.
