Oh God, where to begin... It's bad (but also fun, exciting and so on).

I took a cold turkey in regards to online gaming about a year ago.

Still a little scared to get too close again... might cost me too much this time around :)

:( yeah but just saw a comment there.

"It is not easy to quit after playing a game 16 hours/day for over a year."

This really sux but yeah, it's not only for this game, every kind of addiction reminds me of Smeagle

I played it quite a lot when it was released. Then I decided it was for the best to just uninstall it otherwise I would spend way too much time playing.

Today when I checked my email I've got an mail saying that I could expect the new WoW add on in my mailbox today.... I guess I'll have to play with fire for a few days now. :D

You should tell us all exactly when you plan to stop playing again - for your own benefit of course  Most certainly not for the general amusement of those who always enjoy to watch when ever people start smoking again even though they wowed never to start again... just to be able to say "told you so" :p

PS: Let me know how cool the new patch is...

Oh yeah, it is DEFINITELY addictive!!! I gave it up for the last 4 or 5 months, to be honest I was getting bored, having been at 60 for more than a year.. But then Blizzard started to miss me, and has enticed me back like any good drug dealer would with the new expansion...

What is funny is when the game first came out, I refused to play for at least 6 or 7 months, because I knew it would be too much fun and would take me away from more important things, even though many of my friends were playing... then people at work started playing.. before you knew it, everyone was doing it, and if you wanted to be one of the cool kids, you had to do it too... My best friend started playing, then others in our group of friends started playing, and if I wanted to hang out with my friends, I had to do it in the World of Warcraft... lol... Sad thing, is that I was 26 years old and I totally caved into peer pressure.. ("come on man, everyone's doing it!! Just buy the game, you get the first hit, er, I mean, 30 days free.....") lol

I tell ya, I wouldn't mind knowing how to manipulate peoples addictive behaviours in the way that Blizzard does (and other game companies like them), could be quite helpful knowlege in the IM world.. hehehe..

There was a blog post a while back that really summed things up well for me. Actually made me step away from the game(until of course last night at midnight.. haha..)

I took the time to read this blog post... reminded me of a period in my life stretching a half to 1½ year when I had two computers running on automatic building up characters and collecting "stuff" while I was playing on the third computer. This all took place in Diablo back when it was hot

Luckily my wife didn't leave me... she just kept nagging (remember that; nagging works!) until I quit.

Nowadays I envy everybody playing but don't touch it myself - except the odd game of Civ3 late at night when I'm really bored just to keep a feel for playing.

aren't the DP user title rankings based on this game??

peon, grunt, Tauren, Spirit Walker, (.Y.), etc.

Tried WoW and got hooked for months. That is, until I finally started making websites, and sold my account. :)
