What do you think what is better - 1 payed link for about $25 in some good PR7 directory or free 400 directory submissions ?

I am trying to get traffic, some PR and rankings.

In my opinion free directories wont give you heavy traffic. So one link even pr8.
It wont happen suddenly. I would add to directories under less competetive anchor text and wait. Later some links pr3 pr4. And results shoul be after lets say 1,5 month

But if the link is from a PR7 site then definitely it should boost up your site's PR

But the PR7 site should not have more than 10 outgoing links

If you go for directory submission they would only submit to free directories where you have to wait to get your sites listed!

    So it takes more time

But here PR7 link is recurring one!

If this is a hypothetical situation, and I had to choose only one or be forced to watch the first and only season of short lived sitcom "phenom"... I would choose the paid link.

PR7 sites get to be PR7 because they get a lot of visitors. Its also a great way to get your site ranking.

I wouldn't choose the directories because they are hit and miss with passing linkjuice, and usually provide very little traffic.

I would choose a sitewide paid link from a PR 7 blog for sure.

Free submission takes a long time for your site to get listed and wont get you much traffic if they have loads of links.Better off going paid.

Yes but the new free directories one or two months old would not take much tim to approve your links

but directories like www.pegasusdirectory.com will take a lot of time

400 free directories al the way..

atleast .05% of the free directories will develope into very strong and paid directories in the next 4 months and another 2% in the next 6 months and another 5% in the next one year...

You might end up getting about 150-200 very strong links and more if you are lucky and the submissions have been done properly.

take my word for it that out of 50% directories which will accept you ie 200 directories which will list your site atleast 10 will get a PR7 on the home page and you will have a min of five PR5 links out of those (not all of them will have a pr5 on the page you are listed on)

400 free directories in the long run will be 100000 times more effective

***forgot to mention>> dont use the same description and anchor text. I would suggest 15 different anchor texts and descriptions for 400 directories.

    Hi Fit,
If you would like to see immediate action then opts for paid but you need to have an eagle eye while choosing the correct directory. Else free is also proved helpful but it has very slow reaction. Now it’s up to you.

A link from PR7 directory would be good for your SERP.
Submit your site to 400 directories can get you some good traffic and backlinks.
It just depends on what you needed.
