Frederick Kagan - Success in Iraq

Behind the scene pulling some of the strings is this neocon who favors hawkish foreign policies and extravagant defense budgets.
    http://rightweb.irc-online.org/profile/1240

On January 5, 2007, Kagan published a widely noted AEI report on Iraq aimed at influencing the Bush administration's efforts to revamp its approach to the war. Titled “Choosing Victory: A Plan for Success in Iraq,” the AEI report argued that substantially increasing U.S. troop strength in Iraq is essential to avoiding a defeat that could lead to “regional conflict, humanitarian catastrophe, and increased global terrorism.” Among the plan's proposals: a “surge of seven army brigades and Marine regiments to support clear-and-hold operations” beginning this spring, which would be aimed at securing “the Iraqi population and contain[ing] the rising violence”; lengthening the tours of ground troops and increasing deployments of National Guard forces; making a “dramatic increase in reconstruction aid for Iraq”; and mobilizing military industry “to provide replacement equipment” for troops.

Did not Bush come out with nearly the same word by word diatribe last week

The chief (clown) architect of the SURGE is Frederick Kagan of the AEI. This pasty-face chickenhawk never served in the military, but in television interviews he comes across as giddy with excitement when speaking of the prospect of blood flowing in Baghdad (to be sure, the blood of OPCs - other people's children)- his high-pitched voice breaking into giggles. Kagan has provided President Bush with the intellectual foundation for (escalation) SURGING the troops, and you can read Kagan's delusional thoughts here

Interested in what the DP Pundits think about this

    Pasty-Face Chickenhawk

The best way to end the Iraq war would be to start executing an American Enterprise Institute Jew every time that an American soldier dies in Iraq.

His biggest mistake is to think of war as a competition between 2 forces fire power. If this was true, USA would have won Vietnam war and the problems in Iraq were solved long time ago. War by itself is just a violent tool to achieve certain political goals. The political goals of USA are not achievable and doomed to fail independent of the superiority and size of fire power. The first step for winning in Iraq should be the modification of political goals.

    Very true mate.

The problem is that the USA (and even the UK to some extent) seem to think it is a conventional war (i.e we have more money and much better equipment than the opposition so we'll win) that is of course complete crap.
Israel made a similar mistake when they sent thousands of troops and equipment (all funded by the USA of course) to try and defeat Hezbollah, they couldn't do it.

The sheeple, conditioned by too many stupid Hollywood war films seem to think that sending in an Army equipped with the best and most expensive equipment guarantees victory.

    Again that is complete crap.

Obviously you have nothing intelligent to say about the subject, except crying over why others are able to see the reality.

Awwww, upset that your buds are losing in Iraq, gworld? When have you ever made a positive post about America? Ever? Nope, we know who you stand against and who you stand for. Never a bad word, right?

Still nothing intelligent to say, except repeating your old tired line that anybody that can see the reality is a terrorist supporter.

How many times have you posted the same thing so far? I am sure couple of thousands of your posts are exactly this line. I noticed that you didn't answer my question about those soldiers who also saw the reality of this war; are you calling them a terrorist supporter to? Have some ball and if you really believe in your stupid argument, apply it to them too but then it shows how ridiculous you and your argument are, doesn't it?

    You're not anybody ;)

Incorrect. This is a red herring. I did answer that charge and reminded you of this post I made. And specifically, this post.

If you were as hard on your terrorist buds as you were America, no one would question. But alas, never a bad word for them, eh?

As I have told you so many times before GT I do not support terrorists, your problem is that you have been completely brainwashed by the wankers in power into thinking that everyone in Iraq is a terrorist.
That is complete bullshit, these people spend every day wondering what the fuck a load of Americans (and also Brits too so you can't pull that card on me again ;)) are doing taking over their country.
I'm trying to explain this to you nicely without using profanities because your complete lack of understanding really really winds me up.
Permanent US bases, more troops being sent into the area, OIL, Pipelines.

Wake up GT and stop posting the same shit over and over again. I just searched your posts and a lot are very repetative, you need a reality check mate.

Incorrect. You absolve them of their crimes and give their credit to others. You note the war on terror is a "false war on terror" and when something new happens, you give the terrorists credit to some kookie conspiracy about the CIA. This is supporting them. If you are ashamed of supporting them, then stop. I've pointed this out countless times and yet you repeat your same posts giving them support, time and time again.

When you stop giving aid and comfort to terrorists, I will stop pointing it out. Until then, I will continue to point it out when you do so. You have a choice; stop supporting them, or continue to do so and be ridiculed for doing such. That choice is yours. If you are ashamed, then stop wilfully offering your support for them on a public forum where everyone can read your lunacy. No one is asking you to support them, you are doing it on your own free will and letting the world know you do.

British Guy, I see you have made the above edit to your original post. I am not sure if your edit is a disavowal of the position ("kill a jew") or merely saying you are not alone.

Further, your edit, it seems to me, is misleading. This is not a "Washington Post" article. It was a comment made by a Dan Brown as one online comment to the article by Mr. Kagan and General Keane. So, why don't we just cut the crap, shall we? Regardless of one's feelings for Mr. Kagan, the article in question, his overall point of view, or the War in Iraq, your post begs the question:

Are you advocating genocide or not?

I am not an antagonist who wants to see any more pain on any/either side in this the most pointless war of the last 50 years there comes a point in time where hyperbole and political rhetoric does not work anymore

We have long past the political return of being able to solve this politically with the present world leaders who are involved in this dispute

No single Military or Political Leader in the Middle East will accept or believe anymore Bush or Blair (this is a fact) as they have lied and deceived there way through the last 5 Years

When a political resolution is off the table, then regretably all that is left is loss of life on both sides, I don't think that is called genocide

But I do think it is the reality of the situation more lives lost

The options to resolve this conflict are limited, and with the Political option out of the window there is only one alternative option kill kill kill till till one side prevails

It cannot and will not be concluded with the new (the same old) modus operandi

I don't agree with the war either.

I'll ask again. There is a statement out there, put forward by you:

Please answer directly. You are being asked directly. Is this your belief, and your advocacy?

Unfortunately anti-Semitic feelings have always been strong in both Europe and USA. As you know in 1930s-40s-50s being a Jew was as bad as being black or communist. It was not until mid 1980s and beginning of 90s that neo-con think tanks and politicians were "Persuaded" that Jews are good and they should like them. This later on became as part of neo-con ideology that love for America equals the love for Israel and Christianity and Judaism are the same.

Now with a turn in war and declining fortune of neo-cons; that policy is back firing and I am afraid that many people will blame the Jews for the failures of neo-cons government which will in turn brings back the anti-semitic feelings that was always present in USA but submerged during the last 2 decades to the surface.

I just hope that average Joe is smart enough to understand that they should not blame every Jew for this but I am not very optimistic since it has happened many times before.

No unequivical no in respect to my personal belief.

But it is the opinion of many which is unfortunate as this is how some minds react in a situation that has spiralled out of control

I have been dealt with in the appropiate way for posting that clip, and if it was misconstrued then I apologise also as it was not and never would be meant as my personal opinion (it was simply a cut n paste of someones comments)
