Hi, Yes! The .XXX domain will be launching towards the end of this year! There will certainly be a huge Gold Rush to register premium names adn alot of money to be made selling them on. These will be as Big as .Com value wise considering the size of the adult business on the net! Apparently they will cost 75$ to register See Articles below! http://news.com.com/Porn-friendly+.xxx+domains+approved/2100-1030_3-5728713.html http://www.icmregistry.com/
Wow nice I don't think it will rival .com though, most filters will automaticly ban them, becuase there more than likely to contain porn, so bad for non-porn sites.

it is outdated. It did get declined, if I remember correctly. the net doesn't need a special place for porn, it makes it seem like it condones it...good riddance.
ICANN Publishes Revised Proposed Agreement on .XXX 5 January 2007 A revised proposed agreement with ICM providing for designation of a .XXX sTLD registry is published for public comment. The public comment period will be open until 5 February 2007. Background ICM submitted one of ten applications received in response to an ICANN Request for Proposal to create new Sponsored Top-Level Domain (sTLD) registries (see http://www.icann.org/tlds/stld-apps-19mar04/). Details on the process are contained in the recently posted announcement. More recently, a proposed registry agreement for .XXX (sponsored by the ICM registry) was posted on 16 April 2006 (see http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement1-18apr06.htm). ICANN requested and received substantial comments on the previously posted agreement. ICANN also requested and received advice from the ICANN Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) regarding the application (see, http://www.icann.org/committees/gac/communique-28mar06.pdf [PDF, 91K]). The ICANN Board considered the agreement at its meeting on 10 May 2006 and voted not to approve the agreement as proposed, but did not reject the application. Subsequently, ICM has continued to work to modify the agreement in order to address public policy issues raised by the GAC. ICM and ICANN Staff have been renegotiating a revised agreement for community review and board consideration. Following the public comment period, the ICANN Board will consider the revised proposed agreement in light of the ICANN community feedback and other public comments received. http://www.icann.org/announcements/announcement-05jan07.htm
In the meanwhile, a new start-up in California claims to have technology that help rank web pages better by looking at that page's links. A student called Brin has developed it (backrub) and they're looking for investors so they can get out of their garage. Altavista, currently market leader on online search, says they see no threat to their core competence. Also, did you all patch your system for the millennium bug? So excting isn't it?
If you check the ICANN website its in more recent news so Im not sure. And its very true if there is a place for porn on the internet like set aside it just seems as if porn is internet just another branch of it or something.
