I simply don't believe in god because there is no evidence to support it. Making something up to explain something is asinine at best.

    Religion:
    atheist:
If you say atheism is a religion you're either dumb, or illiterate. It's really as simple as that.

Im just wondering how many people picked atheism because it made more sense than christianity.
May I ask an athiest so.
    How was the universe created?
How do fish in the sea swim and move as one.

Ahh the old christian argument "then where did we come from". I love it. You really need to learn to think for yourself.

Your argument: Extremely complex being with all infinite magical powers was just there, and always existed.

Sane persons: Things gradually came to be slowly evolving over billions of years in to what they are now.

Before I even continue this conversation...how old is the earth?

Whilst all views, I would assume, are welcome here, it does you no favours, Rub3X, to spit and snarl at Christians - whilst you may disagree with the religion, please be aware that not every Christian falls under the category of intolerant, hypocritical fundamentalist.

We don't all bomb abortion clinics, beat up gay people or stand in judgement over others. Some do - you get morons in every religion, as is sadly the way humans can be. But to call someone who has a relationship with God a fundamentalist is a little off the ball - and displays a certain amount of ignorance about the faith.

By the way, Hitler gave up his Christian faith by the time he came to power and did not have the guts to abolish it.

Dont assume I am a christian, and dont assume that cause some book written my some people who claim to have known someone who says that he is the son of god is full of shit, that there is not a higher power in the universe.
I can not only think for myself, I can arrive at an understanding that a skeptic never will simply because I have the courage to look for the answer.
Which ironically is something neither a religious person or an athiest ever will.

I'll deal with your second question, at least for now, since 25 years ago I was given this very subject as part of a pre-med bio class. Forgive any errors - time and many lives since then have clouded my memory, but it really was elemental, and easily looked up if interested.

Pelagic fish that exhibit schooling behavior tend to have bioelectrical sensors along the lateral lines of their bodies that detect subtle changes in pressure. The goal is an equilibrium in the pressure between a given fish and its schooling partners.

Therefore, any change in direction is almost instantaneosly detected among all fish, and directional changes executed accordingly.

    Nothing magical, or supernatural.

PS: Here, just came across this. I might have gotten the "electric" aspect wrong, but my memory recalled something about a lateral line running many pelagic species, detecting pressure changes. I apparently was close:

That is a very immature thing to do.

How about you look to Jesus as the role model, instead of humans who are just imperfect people who received his Grace?

We don't have that excuse, anyway. (If Christians really believed that people around them would go to hell unless they convert them, they wouldn't be able to sleep at night. That kind of responsibility would be unbearable.)

Many atheists believe that believers are in shackles and need to be freed. But I agree that no one will change their mind until they are ready.

It isn't the job of a Christian to convert anyone - that is for Jesus to do. We are commanded to go and tell the world though, something that I enjoy doing.

And there's the problem. Why do you insist on preaching to me. I couldn't care less what your "god" tells you to do. Just leave me out of it?

Fair enough. I'm fine with people like you. Like I said I don't care what you believe, and you don't seem to care what I believe. However other members of this forum appear to be different. Bigots, it seems. I quoted someone above and his complete intolerance to the islamic faith. Not to mention calling atheists uncivilized. It's stuff like that, that I can't stand.

I don't think you can get away from problems in the OT so easily. It may not apply to Christians in some ways, but recorded therein are the words and actions, purportedly, of the very same God.
