I have already started the project! you can see the link in my signature

Also the script I am using is custom made for the purpose of the directory itself

also editors can PM me or post a forums.bigoole.com

so those interested do not post here

Also I am going to display Google adsense ads at the top of the lisings and at the side

also whether some one post a snapshot of my directory's home page as seen in Internet explorer

as I see a different fonts for the word "Bigoole" and also the search Button is some what misaligned ?

Since I did all the designing work with on Mozilla Firefox

I noticed this improper design When I loggd in from my College Where there is only internet explorer

    who said no

What kind of benefits do they expect?

    These are the benefits:

Featured link for a editors site for one year( Till you are an editor)

Income through your Google adsense ads

Sucessfully I have tested displaying Google adsense ads on my directory

That is each time you refer an user your ads will be displayed

and also in addition to ads displayed on the category your are editing

Freewebspace, my advice is to ignore Blogmaster. As usual, he replied without reading the thread. My guess is he thought people were talking about DMOZ editors.

    Minstrel thanks for your advice

I am on the verge of making my directory fully functional

But I am in dilemma as whether I should give editors referral links?

that is when they refer visitors their ads will be displayed.

I just visited your bigoole directory. There doesn't seem to be any way to browse the directory, or to see how many listings there are, or anything like that. All I get is a Google-like search page.

Also, http://bigoole.com/ isn't the world's largest directory. Not yet atleast. Searches for very common keywords & phrases come up with nothing.

    Yes you are correct

If you search for a keyword "web directory"

only listings with the keyword "web directory" will be listed

The listings under "web directory" will differ from listings under "directory"

So there will be hundred of keywords and listings under each keyword can be properly sorted out by the editor

since it is nascent stage you get results for only few keywords

    like 'Web directory'
    'directory'

I think I already have more than 150 keywords in my database

I hope to build it from now

and also I plan to include advanced search also so that if you search for keyword ubder which there is no listings you will be displayed keywords related to the keyword that was searched first

Good guess, but not so. Was speaking generally. Freewebspace is actually one of the first people who has publically announced what exactly the benefits are to editing in his directory.

we should not talk about making profits from a directory like dmoz.
dmoz was not started aimed at making profits but it was started by giants to provide internet surfers valuable information and resources they need. It was only because the editors that the directory was termed corrupt. But now you are taking about revenue sharing (that too from adsense:eek: ) with the editors . The very beginning is not leading to the correct path but is actually following the path where dmoz is now today. if you wish to start a directory like dmoz there should be talks about dedication and not profits and revenue sharing.
so this thread is not leading anywhere.

Nice try, but if you actually read the thread for a change before chiming in it's clear that he answered that question before your first post.

I do not want to create another Dmoz so only I created Bigoole

Revenue sharing is just an addition for editors so they can earn money

Also I am going to have some sort of algorithm so the spams do not get listed

So there will be no problem

any thing will be good only it is professional

So bigoole.com will be a professional one

Since I will be at the helm I can see who is dedicated and who are not

But in Dmoz has no owner (that is some chief editor who is above all)

Even though they has got meta editors no one is considered as supreme thats the problem in Dmoz!

But here there will not be anything like this

I call it as a professional one since a editor can be disqualified

    a)if he adds spam websites

    b) not logging in for more than one month

So I can keep a check on them

and also in addition to this we have forums where people can ask questions abou their site listings

FYI: you have a duplicate submission problem

    http://www.bigoole.com/search.php?keyword=news

I still reckon you should allow more than 3 keywords. Will you be aliasing keywords = so if I search for "search engine optimisation" it'll also return the "seo" and"search engine optimization" sites?

I have found serious flaws and various conceptional problems in bigoole, too many to list them here and most of them relate to a personal vision that I have towards such a service.

I would be interested to receive a copy of the script and evaluate it deeply and/or provide a complete report on it.

If you agree to share a copy of it , PM please.

    Regards

    The simple answer is no

that it is If you search for "search engine optimisation" only sites that are very much related with "search engine optimisation" will be shown

    Thanks for pointing out

The duplicate submission is due to slash'/' at the end of the website's domain name

I will try to rectify it here itself

Also mihai if you want can list the errors here itself

as the forums are here only for discussion

    Here is the reason

when you enter a search term it searches for the that term only

if you include space between the left edge of the box and the term

The term also includes space so only

But I am preparing Advanced Search for it where these all will be eliminated
