hi. i run http://www.britneyfans.org for about 6 months. at the beggining of december i was receiving about 1500 unique visits from google. after that i just receive about 100 visits from yahoo. i know that britney spears keyword must have lots of competition in google, but now i have about 1 or 2 visits from google per day. i used to be on the 20th result page in google for keyword britney spears and know im not even on top 1000. My website has an internal Pr of 4. Domain pagerank has not been updated yet, but i must have at least 4 or 5 ( since all backlinks go to the index). How much time do u guys think i need to get real good traffic from google? Any comments or experience that u guys want to share? THNKS
PR is one of decisive factors of your ranking in SERPs, therefore the higher it is, the more chances you have to appear in top SERP thus getting more traffic. Anyway good PR must be combined with nice optimization to give good results for your campaign.
I think you actually need to go back to the basics and learn what PR is exactly. Before this update PR was a visual example of how many inbound links there are on the www pointing toward your site. Right now while the smoke is clearing it seems like Google may be heavily devaluing links like site wide (paid for) or forums links and not even counting ones like wiki or other social bookmarking sites. They are even possibly adding more value to ones like on high ranking and trusted blogs, articles linking to you on trusted sites etc. If this is off base someone please correct me.
You say ‘with this PR update’ – it wasn’t a PR update.. it was a PR snapshot export to the toolbar (TBPR) or the LGB (little green bar) The problem with that PR update theory is that Ol MC recently went on about how updates and data pushes we were used to in the old days are not as prevalent anymore. There are less algo and infrastructure updates these days and more on-the-fly tweaking. The days of the ‘data push’ are nearing their end So any adaptations to the algo or the PR calculations wouldn’t be seen simply now.. it would be an ongoing concern and adaptation… Therein lies the flaw… there WAS NO PR update… no algo update… no data push.. no infrastructure update (as in Big Daddy) --- it was simply a back links and TBPR update (export)
