Bush moves forward relentlessly in pursuit of another Vietnam http://edition.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/11/iraq.congress/index.html Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska described the move as "the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam, if it's carried out." Hagel is a Republican Senator Now lets get going on this one DP Pundits :-
Charles Timothy "Chuck" Hagel A member of the Republican Party, he was first elected in 1996 and was reelected in 2002. He is a Vietnam War veteran. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Hagel Seems to fit the bill the archetypal incompetent type Politician Nothing new here I think
Obviously he was capable to think and draw a logical conclusion at least in this case, I suppose this disqualifies him as true Republican according to Bush supporters.
Not something you've read from wiki....his history of politics isn't really popular among some people...for sometime, now. It's not like anything he says is a suprise to people on the right. He's actually a bad example for what you're trying to convey (in you're first post). It's like saying Liberman is a representive of the entire left....he isn't. There's always someone that says something that doesn't fit into the common mold. Lately the media seems fixated on Biden, Feingold, and Hagel...
Everyone at FreeRepublic [a conservative forum] hates his guts. But that's been since forever....not just now. Didn't this guy suggest he'll run for president? He would probably have a decent chance with the dems....j/k....maybe....*ponders*
I respect your comments of course but the press leap't on to what he said not me personally Hence why I posted his bullet point comments I am also sure that you are correct in saying the media have a fixation with Hagel, but it's up to the critics to dismantle the fixation I have seen Hagel a number of times on the TV and I will stand by first comments inept, incompetent Are two of the words I would use on a family friendly forum For more florid and ribald descriptive words when AGS joins the thread you will see the fun start
Hagel served in the military IN VIETNAM in 1968. From your comments I take it you think you know more about Vietnam than him. Please explain Vietnam to us...and tell us where you were in 1968.
It still has a long long way to go to being another Vietnam mate (the US got fucked hard in 'nam, the Vietnamese were fighting for their country and their families, the US troops had no fucking idea what the fuck were fighting for ) but it is yet another disaster caused by complete idiots in power not thinking about what they are doing. Many have died, on both sides, many more will die too and all for nothing, it's all down to a load of bullshit. The best option is to pull the troops out. And before people like my old mate GT and Mia come back with "but there have been no terrorist attacks since 9/11 on US soil" the reason there hasn't is because Bush and the crazy gang didn't need to do another one.
Hagel is a republican by name only...much like the congressman from penn. (can't remember his name off the top of my head) Vietname Casualties: 58,202 Source War on Terror Causalties: 3017 (source, any major news outlet) Yep, we are in another vietnam boys...
Couple of similarities: Crummy American leadership decisions Stubborness in staying in the war Lying to the public about progress in the nation (Iraq and/or Vietnam)
differences: not going to lose in Iraq Still has Public support Media makes the war look bad (wait, that is a similarity) Democrats are appeasers (wait, also a similarity) Less troops have dies in Iraq
Aid and comfort to terrorists. Giving credit for their actions to others. Absolving terrorists of their crimes. It doesn't get any more "terrorist supporter" than that.
