Mate I think people like you should be shot. just cause your to dumb to understand anything you think you can fuck up the world for everyone.
The Hole in the ozone layer was caused by CFCs
That still isnt taking care of global warming and if you think al gore invented it to sell a film your either 5 years old or an absolute fucking idiot.
THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD.
You are a walking advert for abortion.
People like you are a bigger threat to the earth than any terrorist.
I for one like having an atmosphere, air to breath and land to walk on.
If you want to think global warming isnt real you are seriously deluded.
May I ask do you have a vested interest in not believing in it "shares in exxon or something" or do you just like driving your humvee to much?
May I ask exactly what you will do when you figure out that you are wrong?
Is it really a chance you are willing to take?

Or how about you just read this.

Why has this dissolved into a debate on the existence of global warming? I thought this thread was about whether governments should threaten people who disagree with them.

I think you may want to read the article again, the US government never threatened Exxon.
Exxon stopped because of bad publicity they were getting.

Really? Olympia Snowe and Jay Rockefeller recently sent a letter to ExxonMobil Chairman Rex Tillerson that included, “We would recommend that ExxonMobil publicly acknowledge both the reality of climate change and the role of humans in causing or exacerbating it. Second, ExxonMobil should repudiate its climate change denial campaign…”

Sounds like an infringement upon free speech if you ask me.

So what your saying that Olympia Snowe and Jay Rockefeller dont have the freedom of speech to make a recommendation to a hypocritical oil company.
If only more politicians actually made an effort like that.
Its not like they went to court or got a law passed, they sent a letter.
    its called freedom of speech.

How about if the president sent you a letter saying, "I highly recommend you realize that the war in Iraq is what is best for America" That included examples of other people he has fined and imprisoned.

Would that then be an assault on your free speech or is it the president just voicing his opinion?

Man, you are angry dude, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed? Actually, I do like driving my humvee...with its diesel engine in it. Did you know diesel is less refined than gasoline? Therefore it costs less to produce and is closer to the natural state of oil, so therefore it is better for the environment. Not to mention it gives me a thousand foot pounds of torque. I still say global warming is a myth invented by Al Gore because he is not bright enough to do anything else (except whine about why he lost the election).

LOL, that actually looks a bit technical for D16 to handle.

PS, diesel may be cheaper to produce but its way dirtier.

way dirtier, but closer to the natural state of oil...hmm...also way dirtier, in that it doesn't need a spark plug to ignite, compression alone...when was the last time you saw dirt ignite from compression? Diesel engines are also known to last at least twice as long as gas engines, so you don't wind up with a hunk of scrap metal that won't run after 200,000 miles...Diesels are much better for the environment strictly because of what they are...when was the last time you saw a diesel that needed a catalytic converter to change the exhaust? Oh yeah, they are cleaner than gas engines and you don't need them..thats right.

And at least I'm not driving your hummer...[IMG]

Er, mate its at least at the level of most of your statements.
I wouldn't waste anything wittier on you cause evidence seems to indicate you just wouldn't get it.

You never have responded about a diesel being dirtier than a gasoline engine...hmm, maybe because you are wrong and therefore you have to change the subject...you are good at doing both of those.

Diesil produces more sulpher and pollutants per litre than gasoline, and while it may be a bit more fuel efficient i am sure this is offset by the fact it is normally stuck in fuel hungry 4X4 driven by macho twats.

Actually, the most common use for diesels are tractor trailers...again, you are wrong. so if diesel is more dangerous, but yet closer to the natural state of oil, why is there oil in the world then? Why does the earth absorb and then hold this oil, why doesn't it leak up and kill us all?

    The Earth never absorbed oil.
you are showing your ignorance again, its formed from the remains of plants and algae over millions of years.
