Hi guys I have designed several websites but Ihave alwyas used tables now I really want to switch to css but I have very low knowlwdge of CSS, Dooes anyone know what's the best and fastest way to learn css?
Personally, I started with w3schools and then used Google searches for specific problems. CSS Zen Garden helped too (looking at the source).
I started at html.net for the basics, then I used w3schools too a bit just for the basics. After that, I just used it to customize my wordpress blog and whenever I ran into a problem I searched for it, like knowing the difference between classes and IDs.
I am in the exact same position, html full on with tables.. I like the way I am working now but I feel the css is critical for me now.. both for SEO and make the sites more w3c valid and smaller in terms of size.. thx for the tip rgchris more suggestions?
Ahh, you already know HTML designing, that sucks. I only really know the basic tags of it, and some PHP basics. I just learned layouts only with CSS, I guess I'm lucky
Hey, i just downloaded a few free templates and had a play, as people have said, if you have a problem just google it. Danny
W3school is the best. I've still not got my head around CSS properly yet. but W3Schools is helping me so far!
I know it seems very unprofessional but, skinning invisionfree helped me learn CSS, after I got the basics down, I just learned float, width, height etc... and then voila I could code in xhtml and css.
Err, every guide I've read on learning CSS has said it was best not to use WYSIWYG programs, but to hand code your stuff in notepad or something
Hi, Yes i also agree with Austars. They all say to use Notepad or similar thing and not any editor. Thanks.
I love how converting from Tables to a non-Tables structure is classified by the general media as "CSS", LOL. CSS did exist and was widely used on tabular designs prior to non-table based designs.
I learned by downloading css of sites that are well built. You can catch on pretty quick... I use Golive.
