I read last season he wanted to play for a London club either us or chelsea but we didnt want him because he doesnt have the pace and chelsea at that time where buying up all the top players so they refused also.
David Beckham is a great football player. He played very good in Manchester United, but in Real Madrid he never played good. The only defect of Beckham is to be always to the center of the gossip.
I believe Beckham when he says he wants to elevate soccer's popularity in the US, the largest sports market in the world. He will surely increase interest in the sport but it will not become as big as he or anyone else in soccer wants. The most athletic boys in the US will be drawn to football, basketball and baseball while soccer remains a second tier sport along with la crosse, swimming, volleyball, wrestling, track, golf and tennis. I make an effort to appreciate soccer as my grandfather played professionally in the UK and I have two daughters that have done well in AYSO and club play but soccer with it's current rules and style of play won't rival the major sports here even Mr. Spice.
Beckham didn't do anything too wrong at Real Madrid, but it is obvious that under Capello, his first team opportunities were and will be limited. There were talks of Stuart Pearce thinking of bringing him to the blue side of Manchester, but that remained a rumour I am afraid. I thought he might have gone to a club in France, Holland or Italy or even Saudi Arabia . The LA Galaxy have the highest attendances in the MLS if I am not wrong, and there are some good players down there like Cobi Jones and Landon Donovan. Becks will be keen to prove that he did not move there for the money, and the cultural icon that he is, soccer in the States could receive a huge boost with his arrival. It will soon be 'cool' to play soccer What happens to his kids. Manchester, Madrid and now LA Still he has two- three years of competitive football in him, and he can still pack a punch or two with his FK's and crossing skills.
I definitely hope he increases the popularity of soccer in America, most of my friends have practically never heard of it.
He better do that He supposedly rejected offers from the two Milan giants and Marseille and Lyon ( All Gossip not sure whether true or not.)
I wish I could agree with you as you always make good posts But I fear that once again the Beckham ego will come out and he will want to be the star in the middle of the pitch And one thing Beckham, never was and never will be is 'the playmaker' in the middle of the pitch And if he plays in the middle what is he going to do Pose and take FK's Coz for that amount of salary Beckham will be calling the shots, he will be the boss not LA Galaxy
EXACTLY. This has been his downfall, i hope he doesn't repeat the same mistake he did at United and ruin his game. He is a right sided midfielder, has always been, and will always be... even Djemba Djemba is better at MC than becks!
Beckham is a player who has played for most of his life down the right. I do not know the way the LA Galaxy play, but if they are people who play from the wings having strikers who feed on crosses and have good '' fox in the box' abilities, then I think Becks could do well. And Becks is already in illustrious company. Pele, Beckanbauer and Cryuff have played in North America too ( Not MLS)
Hang on here is another classic from the super rich Dummy http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=399613&cc=4716 Insisted he was not heading to LA Galaxy for the money, but to be 'part of history'. Oh my goodness Saddam Hussein and Beckham in the history books side by side
To be frank ,as i said he would have got close to the same if he went anywhere else.... [strong rumors Milan offered him a 100,000 pound/week contract] [also 3 year contract max, unlike 5years at LA] I think he was too lazy to work for it, at LA Galaxy he just has to stand and cross.... there is no chance the players in that league will be able to cope up with the accurate crosses and FKs. P.S - When will the Americans learn that the game is called football and NOT soccer!!
Paying that kind of money to one individual is obscene. No-one is worth that amount, not even Becks, and I'm a fan.
Thats the deal when you are surrounded by top business executives and agents who can negotiate deals for you I agree the amount is obscene but they built a Brand And now they are cashing in !
He will get 100% of his images income, which was only 50% in Real Madrid. That's a 20 millions more each year. He said it's not for the money, but I don't buy it...At 32 years, it's a smart move...
You can't call it Capello's fault either. He is been always used to being the boss and he doesn't like his players missing training sessions and attend tomkat weddings . Nobody should be above the team, and nobody should question him. Its his style of functioning.
