So Denver has constant blizzards, Oregon has snow, the UK has tornados, I saw snow near Disneyland last year (passing by my 9th floor office window), and they're sun bathing in Ann Arbor and Brooklyn. Did the earth turn sideways or what?
lol~we aren't really sunbathing because it's cloudy on most days. i'm not too sure about NY though...been there for only 10 days. but it's pretty warm in NY.
Three days ago it was hot and sweety. I opened my window and though about snow...that there was probably no hope of geting any more snow this winter. Da next day it got cold, I closed my window....and then snow came a few times over a day. We got atleast an inch. Here if we ever get any, it's usually gone by after noon (Oregon, about 600 feet elevation.) and there is still atleast half an inch of snow out there!!!
Oregon. There's a state with issues. I went to Eugene (and Oregon for the first time) a couple of years ago. First, people were driving so slow. I wanted to mount a gatling gun on my SUV. Then some guy comes running out of the gas station mini mart with arms going all over like a chicken yelling "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" When I said, "pumping my gas. That okay with you?" He said, "No it's not. You can't do that!" I laughed, despite the look from this guy like I was about to run over a baby or something. Well, it wasn't that funny after all. It was pitiful. Apparently Oregon has a law that says you can't pump your own gas. I guess it keeps the lesser skilled employed. I couldn't get out of that state fast enough.
You're not da first and you won't be da last. Just about every one that comes in to da state for da first time goes through that!! ORS 480.315-320.... Why did da worker freak out??!! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/745228/posts er, what was dis thread about again??!! Pumping gas in da snow??!!!
LOL. That is just nuts. What next? I can't cut my own steak at a restaurant, because the state has official Steak Cutters? The guy said if I pumped my own gas he'd be out of a job. As MUCH as I wanted to reply with a witty comment, I didn't. Not when he's holding my hose.
I for one hope the law never ever ever changes! Nothing worse then crossing the bridge over into WA and realizing you freaking forgot to get gas! Who wants to pump their own gas.. ick! I have 5 kids though, getting out of my car, going inside a gas station, paying for gas, and coming back out.. to actually pump the gas... really not high on my list of .. things i wanna do.. Not to mention that the gas in WA where I have to pump it myself (so they don't pay that gas station attendant) is more expensive! No TY, I'll pass, besides call them 'lessor skilled' or whatever makes you feel important, they still need jobs. ~LadyH
pay at the pump is the only way to go! In my day (said like a grumpy old man)...we had the option, full service or self service!!!
There's nothing wrong with options. There are some people, like the elderly, that would love someone to pump their gas. As to the original topic, snow, we had a few snowflakes here in Vegas today.
I woke up to four inches of snow!!!! SWEET!!!! 14 years, never seen that much snow here!!!! And to think a week ago I was sweeting and opened da window...and thought any hope of geting snow this winter was gone!!! Global Warming my *beep*
snowed an inch thick two days back with reaaaaaaally miserable winds. best part was it rained before it snowed...so the water droplets actually froze on the tree branches, on signboards, etc. under the sun, they shimmer and sparkle. so beautiful.
